and I'll just say this I don't think that you can call me a homer you can say whatever you want I don't think there's a lot separating Freddie Anderson and Andre Vasilevsky in fact I think there's so so little that if you swipe switched places you wouldn't know the difference between the two players and I saw this tweet today from a really good Twitter account at least Twitter account that I loved following it's really funny oh Cleef's which he posted today five on five safe percentages over the last three years Anderson has a 927 on four thousand nine hundred and ninety six shots Vasil Levski is a 929 on four thousand sixty two shots and then it kind of brought me to well what's the future going to look like for this player and what would he be like if he was entering the open market right now and we know it's those two guys that's what he where he's at so Sergey Burt Brodsky just got ten million per season in a tax free state and Andre vasilevsky just got nine and a half million in a tax-free straight state and I isolated these three guys next to each other in the player comparison tool on hockey reference just to see kind of how their careers are and I took one year off of Sergey bobrov ski so he doesn't get the playoff stats from this season but this would put him in free agency at the same time that Freddie Anderson is going to enter free agency or that he is at right now currently these are comparing the three over their careers quality start percentage which is a stat by Robb Volman from hockey abstract Freddy Anderson fifty nine percent of the time and now good is at sixty percent so that's that's been his career Sergey Bobrov ski fifty nine percent of the time Vasil Levski fifty-five percent of the time again this is over their careers career Vasil Levski 919 save freddy anderson 918 sergey bobrov ski nine twenty goals against 255 for vasilevsky 259 for anderson 244 for bob you go to their playoff stats and everyone who's criticized frederick anderson for his postseason quote-unquote failings he's been unequivocally much better over a larger sample size than any of these guys he's got a better save percentage than either of those two guys he's got a better goals-against than either of those two guys he's got a better quality start percentage better quality save percentage everything you go across the board Freddy Anderson has better numbers than either of those two players and it's why it's kind of critical importance that the Leafs hit on one of their young two goaltenders over the next couple of seasons because they're not sinking ten million dollars per year into Frederick and Rizzo 31 years is gonna be worth Freddy Anderson turns 30 in October and yeah he'll be 32 when he hits unrestricted free agents here that will be his unrestricted free agency season and he's gonna want to quote-unquote secure the bag as I was saying earlier he's not gonna be taking a huge discount for playful Leafs we've already seen that if this isn't happening the hometown discount thing is not happening and if guys are getting right now ten million dollars per who are his exact comparables it's really difficult to imagine that to keep him north of the border we're not looking two years from now at or something around 11 million bucks no even if you stretched it out even if you gave him a long a long term contract let's say they gave him the full seven loan and he's a little bit older but again he doesn't have the same wear on the tires as Sergey Bobrov ski does you look at their amount of games played it's there's still a discrepancy between the two of them at this point to their career even though he'd be a year older that the Leafs won't be able to afford this player I don't see how they'd be able to afford Freddy Anderson without making pretty significant moves and changing their franchise and when we talk about this core and we talk about this the shelf life of this group it's always surrounding Austin Matthews and William Neil and ER and Mitch Marner and John Tavares and it frankly it's really never been enough about Freddy Anderson no and it should be also you better be good Ian Scott or Joseph wall somebody figure it out be good you

Dumb question…it's like asking would you prefer Keith Primeau or Wayne Primeau ? Really ? Still…Andersen is underrated because of the atrocious defensive of the leafs…his back is dead carrying that weak defense…after Reily and now Barrie, it's not cup contender worthy…good luck…loll

Anderson is as good as any goalie in the world right now. No slam on AV, he’s a great goalie. But Freddie is going to WIN a Cup

The easy answer is Vasilevskiy but you also have to think Freddy is only paid 5m compared to 9.5m for Vasilevskiy. You could have Freddy and a high quality back up for 2 or 3 million and still be cheaper

My question is. How much does Freddy make on his new contract? And how the hell do the leafs afford him?

If you come here to complain about it being a bunch of Leafs videos all the time:
    1. Don't watch let alone click on the video.
    2. This is Toronto based so there will be majority Leafs news.
    3. The Leafs are one of the most loved teams in the NHL so people want to see news on their team. (Most loved but also most hated)

Why is this a question and what does this have to do with anything? Also anyone with a brain knows the answer to this question.

YEAH, I'm calling you a homer. You can pull out all the stats you want, Vasilevsky is a better goalie than Andersen. I remember when people were saying Halak was better than Price with the use of statistics lmao. If you need stats to say which goalie is better than the other, you know nothing about goalies. You watch them play and see for yourself. But not everyone has the eye so you end up with people like the dude on the right.

Buddyyyy, vassy just won the vezina, get out of here, I'd expect a 31 year old goalie to perform by that age, vassy is just 25
