REPORTER: THE ICE MOWER HAS ONE BASIC PURPOSE, TO SHAVE OF THE BUMPS THAT POP UP ON BACK YARD ICE RINKS AND POND OR LAKE SECTIONS WHERE PEOPLE SKAT RENZELLO MODIFIED A LAWN MOWER WITH A FEW HOURS OF WORK AND CUSTOM PARTS, INCLUDDING AN ICE BLADE HE HAS MADE LOCALLY.>>WHICH IS DESIGNED TO SHAVE BUMPS SMOOTH, AND IT DOE WONDERFULLY. REPORTER: BUT TO FINISH THE JOB YOU STILL NEED SOMETHING LIKE A ZAMBONI.>>WHICH IS WHY HE MADE THE BAMBINI. REPORTER: I’LL JUST TAKE A TANK, MAKE A FRAME, SOME WHEELS, SOME PLUMBING, AND THE BAMBINI WAS BORN.>>IT’S PRETTY SIMPLE TO USE. YOU JUST FILL IT WITH HOT WATER, BRING IT OUT ON THE IC PRE-SOAK THE MATT, AND YOU’RE READY TO GO.>>AND WE’RE JUST GOING TO TURN THE WATER ON AND START PULLING IT AROUND. REPORTER: THERE IS NO MACHINERY HERE, IT’S A SIMPLE GRAVITY-FED SYSTEM TO DISTRIPUTE THE HOT WATER ONTO THE ICE. REPORTER: IT’S JUST MELTING OUT A THIN LAYER OF THE ICE AND THE DRAG-MATT IS KIND OF SMOOTHING OUT THE WATER.>>DEPENDING ON HOW COLD IT IS OUT, THE WATER WILL QUICKLY RE-FREEZE, AND RENZELLO SA YOU’LL HAVE A GREAT SKATING SURFACE WITHOUT HAVING TO DEAL WITH FROZEN HOSES.>>LOOKS A LOT LIKE GLASS, DOESN’T IT?
