another very humid day here in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada no hockey jersey today I got a stay short sleeves I think I should really put an air conditioner in my man cave down here now today looking at Tyson berry now obviously Toronto Landing defenseman Tyson berry was a huge win for them and a really big deal they 100% needed a guy like this on their blue line and right now they have him for one year at 2.75 million dollars seems like an incredible steal well that's also because Colorado has retained 50% of his salary and that really helps out Toronto moving forward because they still have the looming Mitch miner thing I'm not talking about that no more but what happens after this season what kind of contract will 'command is a big talking point he's going to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year so maybe he won't even want to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs although I still say is too early for him to even be thinking that because obviously you want to see what this season brings for the Leafs and maybe burial just hit a new plateau in his career because he's had a nice progression rate over his career up to this point now Tyson Berry is often forgotten when it comes to the offensive defenseman in the league when you have a Brent burns you have an Erik Carlsson many people do not focus on Tyson berry in his offensive abilities to just drive offense from the back end forward he is a very gifted offensive defenseman and he gets overlooked a lot because there's some bigger names out there obviously now comparisons for defenseman Tyson berry apparently eight million dollars would be the sweet spot on his next contract if you want to lock him up long-term eight million a season well if you look statistically on what he brings I mean ok he he tallied 49 or more points four of the past five seasons including a career-high 59 points last season that to me is an eight million dollar defenseman you look at what pique Subban did by the eye okay he's a Norris Trophy winner as well but PK Subban at nine tyson berry can definitely get and what's really going to help Tyson berry moving forward is if he has another 50 plus point season with Toronto this year if he does that I think instantly a lock no lower than eight million dollars moving forward for Tyson berry but here's the thing as of now Toronto has over fifty five million invested in twelve players for the 2020 2021 season so the outlook is not the greatest for Toronto hanging on to him long term but question though do you guys think Tyson Berry is worth eight million dollars do you think that's the sweet spot or should it be lower should it be higher regardless though Toronto could only have Tyson berry for one single season that to me would be a big blow they got so much invested up front between Austin Matthews of course Tavares Neil endure and soon-to-be Mitch martyr there's so much invested in those four guys it's leaving the Blue Line very vulnerable and that's something that everyone has been talking about for quite some time it was addressed you know this offseason they tackled it but the issue is if you continually have that much of your team so loaded up front it's going to be a struggle year over year over year of constantly guys leaving new guys coming in and constantly retooling that blue line Tyson Berry's the type of defenseman that you want to hold on to but Toronto's in a position where sadly they may not be able to do it and already there's talk about what to do with the Tyson berry situation and sadly will they only have the guy for a single year that would be a huge blow and a huge loss but obviously the season hasn't started yet a lot can happen between now and then and you never know what Toronto could do it the deadline and maybe one of those big guys up front could be sent packing in order to free up some valuable cap space to keep Tyson Berry around and to help keep that blue line secure moving forward so what are your guys thoughts on Tyson berry Toronto you know he's gonna be a UFA at the end of the year but what do you think his next contract could look like I know I already looked at Taylor Hall's next on track now we're looking at Tyson berries and I'm gonna be picking a few other interesting players moving forward for their next contract as they hit free agency next year but Tyson berry was next on my list so what are your guys thoughts let me know below as always everyone you can give me a follow on twitter at just the man 87 make sure to subscribe make sure to stick around because this is hands down the place to be if you're a hockey fan like me Cheers off

Montreal are going to put between 9.5 and 10.m on laine or maybe the trade suzuki Juulesen 1 or 2 round pick because jets dont have alot of young talented players so suzuki will be great because montreal has ryan poehling and cole caufield jets lost myers and trouba is a RFa so they need to sign connor and trouba so juulesen will cover their defense void if they let him decent minutes

Mitch marner is a great player i think he is worth 10-10.5mBUT NOT 11 OR 12!!! Duchene got a great contract but panarin GOT 11 THE DUDE DOES BEARLY 70-80 POINTS BRUHHHH THE MARKET IS EXPLODING POINT IS GOING BACK TO TAMPA. TORONTO LOST THE DEAL OF KADRI BARRY FERFOOT CAN ONLY PLAY DEFENSE CENTERMAN HE IS A 4 TO 3 LINE CENTER…… THE MARKET IS CRAZY oh yay i need to say something HOW THE FUUUUUUUU IS LEE WORTH 7M

8 mill seems like a good deal for what's out there . 9 for Skinner, 7 for Hayes . 11.6 for Panarin .. Good value for a Dman who can log minutes and score 60pts.

Think its pretty silly to be talking about a yet to be seen imapact player salary demand typ player. If he shuts it dow and lights up the score board sure. Till then why pump him up to that?

Justin, could you talk about the boeser situation in Vancouver? Theyve just signed a bunch of players and theve got 5.5 mil in cap space. And boeser is worth more than that. What do you think will happen?

Justin, don't know if you are old enough to remember them or if they still exist but I recall many years ago going to see an ahl game, our Hershey Bears who were playing the Fredericton Express. They were obviously an ahl affiliate for an NHL team, I want to say the Nordiques but I could be completely wrong?

As far as Barrie, I give up trying to figure out who is worth what salary. Today San Jose gets a bargain and sign a decent player for only $1 million for 1 year. Dubas signs Nylander (who I still believe is unproven) to $6 million per year. This salary stuff is out of control. I know that they will never do it, but the NHL, and all sports for that fact should go to a tier system. A certain number of players at 'Pay Grade A'; A certain number of players at 'Pay Grade B' and so on… I know that the NHLPA would never allow it! Maybe if you combined it with getting rid of 'Escrow' and some other incentives? I guess these days any player is worth whatever a GM will pay him?

Colorado made this deal because they have a lot of depth at the defensive position including their top pick. They knew about Barrie wanting 8 million dollar salary per year on his next contract he will be playing for that contract with the Leafs with something to prove however if the Leafs do not improve I doubt if they will pay out 8 million dollars for a player especially if they resign Marner

With the Muzzin and Ceci contracts expiring at the end of next season, that will pay for Barrie.

8mill is alot but Barrie is a great puck carrier and good for at least 50pts he is a better defender than he gets credit for
He will be a miss but I understand why the avs let him go
