oh here and then so anyways he has us like nah now and then um was the dude that the answer guy with the parachute pants mimsy Heron yes how do I know that we tracked three of its superstars to an expanse of curving concrete walls and tubes pipelines skatepark in upland we go out to upland in the middle of the winter for like a turkey shoot or something it’s a pro-am everyone against everyone because there’s nobody in skateboarding at the time and Lester’s on Sims and tracker and he’s going to go up against Mickey Alba on gns and Indy Lester was on fire dude it was like they took the fence out they took the fence down so the dude could get back further and push to kick into a fronts and error he said there’s a photo and Thrasher he’s doing a frontside air boned out like about this high out just killing himself we were in the corner screaming beating boards laughter just little kids right the Alba’s in the indie clan sent these giant Samoan upland dudes these bad landers and they surrounded all of us little Whittier kids and they stood up over us with their arms crossed and we’re all shut the up shut the up we’re going to kick your ass and we were just like holy these were adults sent by the indie crew dude get back to making Lester he knows this all those contests which is crazy and I just remember like sometimes some of our bows would I Spit on some of the competitors was looking back kind of up that’s how I went down and I never even tried tracker trucks ever but as a little kid 14 years old your friend is saying hey do you want to get free trucks oh yeah yeah ray bones rides them alan Gelfand rides them Mike McGill I mean all these guys I saw in the magazines of course and then wait do I get those little plastic things that go on top and and do I get the yellow trucks too cuz those are so cool like right I’m like sign me up man like how many things went around those trucks like there was cobras and then the sleeves and rings and I was so stoked and I could not wait to put this thing on that was a copra the that you had to put on to hold the copra on and then put your wheel on it it was really hard to get on magnesium trucks were bad-ass okay like when tracker made mags and the coping device that went with that like whatever you sold Ray bones boards because Ray bones was already gone so you saw all these super badass photos of Stevie riding Ray bones boards with tracker mags and sign me up and tracker lappers like people would make fun of that today but back then that was Godhead that turned your to block boardslide into a four block board side instantly he was like having a rail for your truck the lapper was go was really tiny and that was actually pretty hard to put on as well because you had to push down and it went over you know the two back bolts kind of looked like the bird like someone was flipping you off well then and they just made the bird oh they did I used it I meant back then I had the copers I had the lappers I had the rails I had the nose bones I had the tail bone I’m in whatever you could put on your board I screwed it on and copers sucked and they always sucked and how mortally wounded the simple act of just the abrasion wearing away two minerals my favorite is the big giant Anthony that sticks out like this far ladyfinger is always a good treat just a slab a metal connected to the board that holds the wheels on there you get off the wheels and jump on the metal make a louder noise makes you grind a little further or whatever just makes it makes it different than what it was there will be no rules sitting here two dudes that road connection trucks it was Indy against me reflects is what it was that’s where it started because of Arriflex riders rode reflects trucks how did the connection truck come about very flex wanted to make a complete setup and the last item was the truck they already had the wheels the boards the rails all the other crap so they thought they’d make a truck welcome to the sundeck Pro Am skateboard Classic here in Jacksonville Florida okay who do we have up here now it sound low c4 very flex skateboards he’s a ripper bear flex the only company that has every skateboard product you mean as in they make the trucks they make the wheels and they make the decks at that time everybody was writing lasers where I was hanging out and kingpins were a big issue of lasers and I just hang it up but they would break all the time because you’d hit him coming in they break even grinding they break so they thought well we’ll put the kingpin the other way and eliminate that problem and that’s really I think what led them make the reverse truck not very well but I go to Upland right when the pools built I’m on Indies cool everything’s cool I get sponsored by very flex next time I go to upland he blows his nose on me one of those Canada me I mean because he was too right connection trucks a long time to dive under you can travel shooting trucks you got right Andes there was a little tense in the beginning but it faded out you know it was like two different camps in those days like the very Bosworth’s of Santa Cruz with more or less it was like bunkers versus vert boss I don’t know it’s I’m just still weird I guess I don’t know I’d like it do you think is going to be the main people are you gonna be up against in the finals today Eddie or Garrett doing Peters and Dave and Earth because if you if you look at a skater like al Guerra or some of the so-called barrow BOTS and then you look at a skater like Dwayne they all did the same tricks they skated a lot of like like Dwayne could have been on Vera flex Dwayne Rovere flex wheels while he wrote for Santa Cruz exactly religiously I was hiked on you’re going to be up against Eddie alghero the number one man pretty soon probably in the finals today at the High Roller Park how do you feel about coming up against Eddie another team member once again I’m not scared or anything he doesn’t bother me I just got to make all my tracks it’s all just a matter of who’s gets the gnarliest and who goes for it more old versus new style versus robot lines versus tricks us against demons and stahl and they were just more doing tech tech stuff in this back and forth you got a good shot at winning this contest today but do you think it’s going to give you the most trouble d’Alene and fausto came and told Lucero he was like you don’t read those trucks anymore you ride these trucks and force them to ride thunders and so Lucero is like in some of the first thunder ads like sitting on the beach in SF with like very patty let’s bring those ads out again like starting venture is starting thunder to suck sales away from tracker and ultimately going or whatever like that it was some shrewd business work and it all worked it’s some of the best a so for heels um listen a aside from all this talk are we going to be in trouble are we in trouble for anything no okay skateboarder magazine goes out of business and Fausto and Novak and those guys get together and go well we have to create media to promote this thing file stoves gig was I need a way to sell my wares I need a way to sell independent trucks we’re starting Thrasher Magazine they go to Dwyane Wade win which we named it Dwayne’s a collet Thrasher Thrasher was born and they’re doing a fairly good job with what they had it was kind of like a zine almost really crappy paper the ink came off on your fingers your fingers of turn black so on and so forth Thrasher came out and skate and destroy was their motto so when Transworld came out with their magazine skate and create be good be good be good be good be good be good be good be good like really but then like churns I wasn’t doing itself any favors with you know like he could be good like that kind of stuff on the magazine was just like speaking of skate and create yeah look what’s on the cover and see I of the very first Transworld what is wrong with you guys like wacky just why does it have to be this antithesis to Thrasher why can’t it just be a ski magazine Transworld in my opinion was built out of reaction against something which is sometimes a bad reason to build something it was a reaction of an ad they didn’t like I believe the first advertisement was a Santa Cruz ad with Rob Ross cop and a girl in a in a bathing suit holding her board between her legs bending over so you can see her you know her Venus mound and tracker Peggy got really really insulted by this she wanted a cleaner softer skateboarding you know she wanted to be more little-league more olympic-style after that comes the Indy advertisement with the boobs with the D&E logos on them and tracker Peggy’s head explodes and she penned the article skate and create in the first Transworld it says by tracker Peggy and then tracker started making those anti symbols you know skaters you know get right ovary yeah look they’re the same exact side you know it just made it worse yeah so like more dude flop away from a cabin cabin asleep walk away from him yeah right my first contest for Indy would probably bin Jose Ram Jam that’s where the less twist and the back side bonus came out your performance in that consciousness phenomenal I was stoked man I was on Indy I was like I gotta represent I mean by the time we got to Del Mar in 85 and in the the Hakka SOI Wars because again it’s still competition based it’s a battle for the very heart and soul of skateboarding to put it poetically okay next year and Christian Hosoi I just remember there’s one Del Mar contest where it got really heated and people were like throwing bottles and Walt during my run you know that that felt really mean like that was a bummer yeah well I mean I guess it was just that it was that one sort of convergence of time and place when it became this norcal socal Indy tracker thing and I think that was probably you know like Delmar Christian and I competing and then all of a sudden it was like this divided camp which was weird because Christine’s traffic tracker you putting me like everyone used to ride for everyone yeah at the end of it there’s Wars because people are making money or not making money yeah of course people there’s always something there there’s some reality when you start hitting people in the pocketbook who owns thunder deluxe who owns deluxe um herb ago who has beed Thrasher who owns structure now ahead names okay there we go there we go when the tow done there it is Julie doesn’t give a you don’t go she’s the best yeah guenon why should she she’s a blessed Swensen sister so there it is that’s the real exposure who owns it the women exactly how route is that there’s the the women the women own all the best in skateboarding there’s one other person that’s the other person okay wouldn’t none of it would have none of it would have been been possible if Novak wasn’t involved well yeah exactly yeah so there it is what how uh-huh you’re confused you’re alone it’s Saturday night you have no pants on click here to watch more love letters to skateboarding

As much as everyone wants to hate on Trackers for no reason, since they've been brainwashed into thinking "Indy's the best fuck the rest", Trackers are now the ONLY skateboard truck where every single component of the truck is made in the USA. Indy makes their cast hangers and baseplates in the USA, but that's it. Forged hollow trucks and all the other components are all China. Just an FYI. The Tracker "Axis" truck is a pretty damn good all around truck.

ACE are made in China but I still choose them because they grind way smoother, longer, and turn 10000x better than Indy's. The bending issue and axle slip was fixed with their redesigns, and even before I never had issues with the axles. The whole "ride the best" bro attitude is juvenile. Everyone had different needs. For street, Thunder and Venture are definitely better performing trucks than Indy. Fuck, even Theeve and Krux perform better on street too. Indy isn't the ONLY truck, shut up already. Not saying it's a bad truck, but it's not "the best". There is no "best" truck. Period.

i figured out a long time ago tha Independent trucks were far superior to Gullwing Pro 3's and Tracker 6 tracks. Ventures were just cheap street trucks at the time and Thunderd were nust Indys with graphics.

funny how the skatw world always bucks trends and roots for the underdog. and shit goes full circle. indy haters now. just like back then when indy was the up and coming and people that used to ride trackers jumped ship and got on the indy bandwagon. you all can kiss your own trendy ass. i know which trucks are superior and always have. Independents filled the niche a long ass time ago. Benetts broke…Trackers geometry was whack and the Ultralight bases were crap. Gullwings were tanks but more gimmick than anything. Aces are cool but they use cheap chinese metal and to this day them slopes still cant make good metal. Plus China can suck it. Independent and Thunders are still thee Truck to have. Ermico started it all and thats that. Why is jist about every truck out there now basically a copy of Independent? Especially the geometry??? Face it you dorks…whether you hate Indys popularity and marketing or not….they got it right.

Aussie borgy copers were the only time copers would be acceptable and they would be dead within a day guaranteed anyway. They were made outta the same shit a bread board is made outta, they were the shit when copers are the topic.

Well didn't Transworld just die? I wonder if the name having TRANS in it killed it because of all the trans people, movement whatever. I mean if you heard the name knowing nothing about skating you'd think the magazine was for trans people!

I wish you'd talk a little more about the actual difference between Tracker and Independence when riding on flat ground, bowls, and pools.

I remember those "anti" stickers tracker made. Ugh. Those were the WORST trucks! I had the axles slip out on all 3 pairs i had b4 finally being able to afford my own new Indy's. Tracker were heavy AF too! We teased kids riding em, calling em Packer trucks, short for "fudge-packer"-hey, we were dumb punk rock kids. Man, only thing heavier back then was orig Thunders. I HATED ollies on those! But had to admit, once i switched back to my Indys, i could finally ollie a hydrant!(my personal yardstick for greatness, that and ollieing up onto the mall rail to slide it! 1991, yeah!😈) Was like training for the moon or something!
GROSSO! DO A LOVE LETTER TO RAY BARBEE FOR CHRISSAKES! AND ONE ABOUT BANDS WHO PUT OUT DECKS, SHITTY OR GREAT BOARDS! (Old a$$ Misfits coffin deck, anyone?)
