♪ (soothing music) ♪ Puerto Rico is basically Spanish USA. ♪ (dynamic music) ♪ Puerto Rico was an indigenous island before the Hispanic
and before all Europeans and everybody else
who came across this island but when the Hispanic era came here, also a bunch of European people
came here at the same time so it was more like slavery, you know. They killed the aborigenes. By the 1800’s there was a war
with the United States and Spain paid to United States
with Puerto Rico and Cuba. Cuba fought for their independence, and Puerto Rico didn’t go
all the way through with it, so that’s why Puerto Rico
is a Commonwealth now. ♪ (music continues) ♪ It’s a mix between South American
and American look, I think. I mean, it’s all colorful and good concrete. You have rough spots, perfect spots, like any kind of spots, actually and so many. ♪ (music building) ♪ San Juan as a city is really nice as well. We’ve been skating around in the streets and driving around in the van
for the first days, and it’s just a good mix between
being like a concrete metropolis to a tropical island with palm trees and it’s just beautiful. We spent a few days
in Old San Juan, the old area. In a sense, when you go anywhere
there’s always “old” something. They always have their roots
and their place where it’s typical of where we are. ♪ (upbeat music) ♪ ♪ (intense music) ♪ We didn’t just stay around San Juan and went inland, down the south,
on the west, south we have seen like a skate school
which was in the middle of the island and it was just an amazing thing. ♪ (upbeat music) ♪
