TOPEKA PILOTS IS TEAMING UP WITH THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB — TO HELP KIDS IN THE CAPITAL CITY. KSNT NEWS REPORTER JAMES RYAN IS LIVE IN SOUTHEAST TOPEKA THIS MORNING — WITH ALL THE DETAILS ON HOW THIS NEW MENTORING PROGRAM IS TAKING FLIGHT.###THAT’S RIGHT BRITTANY. I’M LIVE OUTSIDE THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OFF OF ADAMS. THE PILOTS WILL BE HERE LATER TODAY TO GREET THE KIDS AS THE GET OFF THE BUS. THE PILOTS WILL BE SENDING TWENTY- FIVE PLAYERS AND STAFF THAT WILL EACH BE PAIRED WITH A KID. HEAD COACH AND GENERAL MANAGER SIMON WATSON TELLS ME THEY ARE EXCITED TO START GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN THIS WAY.###JENNIFER LECLAIR WITH THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS OF TOPEKA SAYS SHE’S LOOKING FORWARD TO THE PROGRAM. SHE SAYS MANY PEOPLE COME IN AND OUT OF THE CLUBS VOLUNTEERING — BUT THE MENTORING PROGRAM IS A CHANCE TO BECOME AN ACTUAL INFLUENCE IN THE LIVES OF THE KIDS. AND THAT’S BECAUSE WHILE A LOT OF THE VOLUNTEERS CAN BE SPORATIC — THE MENTORS WILL BE SPENDING AT LEAST AN HOUR A WEEK WITH THESE KIDS.
