Same can be true for golf. I saw a whole bag of clubs in a pawn shop Friday for less than 50 bucks. A putter was in there that was once 250 bucks. Not any more.

Smartest man ever. I've been all about this for years. I would go back to a five dollar rope tow any day of the week. Cheap, no crowds, safe, fun. That is the name of the game. The whole experience got way out of hand price-wise, and so much of the fun simply got left behind. I've been waiting for this moment in time to come. Congratulations. BTW, I saw a snowboard in a thrift shop just this past Friday. Probably 5 bucks. I ski though. My preferences are slightly different but my end goal is the same! Let's do this!

Good question on affordability! I think that snowboard manufacturers could do a better job of using older technologies to produce usable gear at an accessible price point. Unfortunately, snowboarding has followed skiing down the path of being a lifestyle/status signifier. So it seems unlikely that manufacturers would be willing to dilute their brand by selling lower price point products.

My first setup was from The House. Had it for 6 seasons which averages under $80 a season

Winter sports are not affordable for a awarege family budget worldwide. It is sad but true. Mainly because of the skipasses

I’ve really been wanting to get into snowboarding, but here in Vegas it’s hard finding a board at a drift shop 😕

I got it! Start a snow gear donation dept. Maybe even a buy back. I have a couple things I'd be willing to donate to kids. I too remember looking through the house catalog as a kid. Then came the classifieds like craigslist. Found a board boot, binding and gloves for 100 dollars. Years later, I press my own board and will snowboard until my body says no. thanks House!
