Great designers like Armani,
Ralph Lauren and Christian Louboutin
have had the opportunity to show their designs
in the Parade of Nations of the Olympic Games. But once again, it would be a woman
who would raise the bar. On today’s Fashion Icon,
Stella McCartney. In 2004, Stella began
her amazing collaboration with one of the biggest brands
of sportswear. This romance would take her
to what she called “a once-in-a-lifetime chance” – dress the British Olympic Team
in 2012. 590 items designed. 46 sports. And a dream come true. After two long years of hard
work as a creative director for Team GB, Stella finally made it, and the results
couldn’t be better. The ultimate blend between
performance and style. Her participation was
so well received that she was called again
for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. With this opportunity, Stella
decided to give the athletes the look and feel of champions
on and off the fields. Many athletes delivered
their input to help Stella make
her best design to date. Each garment features
the red, blue and white colours of the Union Flag,
along with the coat of arms. Elegant, comfortable,
and with a touch of class, Stella’s work
is a beautiful combination of tradition
and a modern attitude. Stella, like maybe
any other designer, knew how to deploy her style
through all the Games. We guess Dad at home must be
really proud of his baby, knowing that her talent
shines here, there, everywhere. (FASHION ICON)
