hi i'm dr. craig mclean chiropractor to numerous winter Olympians and also the fitness editor for ski and board magazine I've put together a series of exercises today to really get your body ready for the approaching winter let's start by doing just a standard plank on all fours and then switch into a side plank going to both sides again be careful that you don't drop your hips too much or let them go too high hold it nice and strong you should feel the burn on this side and then flip it over to the other side simple bending of the knees hands out strength to keep your balance and then back on the game and just repeat this numerous times the key thing with this is you don't go to Lowe's don't get right down in this sort of a new position or put too much strain on your knees separate your feet nice and wide and you just want to lower yourself down the key thing is you maintain like a 90 degree angle here I don't want to see you go forward like this which is way too much strain on the knee they're down up but the other leg now start by just squatting right down we're just going to simply jump from one side to the other and being really careful that when you land you don't collapse okay and when you jump you don't swing your arms up too much it's you really want to be explosive through the legs as you jump

    I do these using weights as well as calf raises, leg curls and leg extensions for my leg day workout using weights. Is there any particular amount of reps and is it of benefit to lift heavy?
