Canada is known for its natural beauty. British Columbia, with its lush rainforests,
clean and clear lakes, coastal waters and high mountains,
is one of Canada’s most beautiful provinces. Whether you like hiking, skiing or shopping,
you will find it right here – safe and easy to reach. Here are the 10 best places to live in British
Columbia for 2018. 1. Vancouver. The largest population center in British Columbia,
Vancouver is surrounded by water and has one of the mildest climates of all Canadian cities. Vancouver features a growing economy and a
particularly diverse population. A popular destination for South Asian and
Chinese immigrants, Vancouver offers the best of the best when it comes to outdoor living. Vancouver’s free and easy lifestyle, spectacular
scenery and superb natural environment are all legendary, as are its real estate costs,
of course. An active cultural center and a booming social
spot, Vancouver is a gem on Canada’s west coast. The Economist ranks it so highly based on
categories including stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education, and infrastructure. 2. Victoria. Victoria is one of the best places to retire
in Canada, the highest placing city in all of British Columbia. The average property tax in the city of Victoria
is $1000 per year. There are 3.73 doctors per 1000 people and
the city has 319 days of the year above freezing. All that healthy sea air and temperate climate
also makes it one of the healthiest places to live in all of Canada. Low property tax rates make it easy for Victoria
seniors to travel more than people from some other British Columbia cities. Beyond climatological bliss, Victoria has
much to offer. A stable economy leads many people to move
to Victoria for work. There are jobs related to tourism, government,
and related support jobs because Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, and a
booming tech sector. 3. Saanich. Saanich is the largest municipality in greater
Victoria by area, and boasts plenty of variety in landscape. It blends both the rural and urban on southern
Vancouver Island. More than 110,000 people live here. The population of Saanich is as culturally
diverse as its territory, and for thousands of years has served as home to First Nations
people. The largest “visible minority” population
in Saanich identify as Chinese, with the second largest identifying as South Asian, followed
by Filipinos. Employment rates among the immigrant population
in Saanich are high and household income is also high. Although crime has increased in the past four
years, Saanich remains a relatively safe area to settle. 4. Fort St. John. A city in northeastern British Columbia,
with a population of only 20,000, as you would suspect, there aren’t any traffic jams or
long waits. The peace river and Northern Lights are very
beautiful. There is a lot of great recreational activities
such as hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, and bird watching. The community is tight-knit, close and very
friendly. If you are new in town, the people in Fort
St. John are always willing to help out and point you in the right direction. Fort St. John is one of the sunniest places
in the province, especially in the winter and spring. Although winters can be frigid, the area has
milder winters than much of the rest of Canada due to the influence of the nearby Rocky Mountains. 5. Richmond. A suburb of Vancouver and only a 30-minute
drive from downtown is probably the best city in the country to settle: nearly 60% of the
city has immigrated to Canada. The rent isn’t as high as some other areas
of Vancouver – one of Canada’s most expensive cities – and the average salaries are higher
than the city itself. You can take transit to work to save money,
and the Greater Vancouver Area is notorious for the warmest weather of any major city
in Canada. The local economy is supported by thousands
of jobs in the retailing, tourism, manufacturing, aviation, services, fishing, agriculture,
and government. It is also leading in high-technology due
to the presence of Sierra Wireless and Norsat. There are also a number of large shopping
malls in the area. The average family income in the area is $87,000,
with an income growth of 11.5%. As of 2016, average home price in Richmond
reached $1,000,000, according to Canadian Real Estate Wealth data. 6. Nelson. Nestled deep in the interior of British Columbia,
Nelson offers some of the best living conditions in the province. Some of the notable features of living in
Nelson are low average property taxes of $1600 per annum and 262 days per year of temperature
above freezing. Nelson’s picturesque setting is a shelf
of land overlooking the dark blue waters of Kootenay Lake. Parks and beaches can be found along its waterfront,
and the town itself is home to more than 350 heritage buildings constructed between the
late 19th and early 20th centuries. Adding to Nelson’s charm is its artsy, youthful
culture, with the town touted as having more artists per capita than any other town in
Canada. Nelson is also an excellent base for hiking,
kayaking, and skiing in the mountains, lakes, and streams found in the surrounding area. 7. Oak Bay. The safest part of Greater Victoria – and
one of the safest communities in British Columbia – Oak Bay boasts rising salaries,
low unemployment, and a higher foreign-born population than most of the towns on this
list. Oak Bay does outshine others in ways that
are hard to match, scoring fairly high on criteria such as having a robust economy,
high wealth and incomes, home affordability, low taxes, being transit friendly, health
accessibility, low crime, and weather. Oak Bay is also one of the 10 wealthiest areas
in the country, with an average household net worth approaching $2 million,
and while it’s one of the most expensive real estate markets around, it’s still cheaper
than Vancouver’s market. 8. Colwood. The City of Colwood is located on the south
coast of Vancouver Island. Just 10km from British Columbia’s capital
city of Victoria, Colwood is a fast growing, a family-friendly seaside community of just
over 16,000 people that enjoys a rich heritage, a unique connection to nature and incredible
potential. The City boasts boundless recreational opportunities,
diverse natural ecosystems, and several popular national historic sites. Colwood’s workforce is highly educated and
statistics show that Colwood residents have a higher median household income than neighboring
communities. Employment opportunities are projected to
increase by 84% in Colwood by 2038, as the population grows and businesses in
the nearby City of Victoria look to expand and diversify. 9. Kamloops. This modern city with 100,000 residents is
about a 4-hour drive from Vancouver. It is a city with a relaxed lifestyle, a warmer
climate, and has a mixed landscape of forests, lakes, mountains, and valleys that all offer
abundant leisure opportunities. The city is a mecca of arts, culture, shopping,
and lifestyle amenities that would keep any urbanite busy. The safe, friendly environment of the city,
combined with the spectacular natural setting, help to make Kamloops an ideal destination
for international students. Due to the presence of Thompson Rivers University,
the largest in British Columbia, the city also has thousands of students, local and
foreign. 10. Kelowna. This city in the center of fabulous Okanagan
Valley offers a lifestyle of fun and surprises. Its diverse neighborhoods spread around the
highlands, provide spectacular views of the lake. It also has a dynamic job market with many
jobs available from its rapidly growing tech sector and other businesses. Kelowna also has an endless array of entertainment
and outdoor activities for the young and old. The average family income in Kelowna is $88,000
while home prices average at $700,000 for a single family home. The city has benefitted from migrants looking
for outlying communities with a rural feel yet close enough to the city.

Meeka b….Really?! You think the "person" talking lives in BC? Are you serious?! Listen to the "voice," this is a computerized voice program anyone can use. All they did was look up stuff on the internet, steal a few pictures and videos that THEY THEMSELVES DID.NOT.MAKE. throw in a voice that is NOT theirs just so they will get money from Youtube's advertisements if enough people watch or subscribe. This person IS NOT in any of these videos. They are picking out different places, looking them up on internet (something everyone can do on their own), and steal pictures and videos from other places in which said pictures and videos belong to SOMEONE ELSE. Go click on their icon and see that they are doing this with all kinds of places. Do you really think that just because a person using a computerized voice program and stealing pictures and videos actually has lived EVERYWHERE that they have done videos on?! Mind you….they themselves are NOT in ANY of them. There are people on Youtube who are actually getting off their ass and actually going to places and eating the local food and showing what different places are like. This person…THIS PERSON goes NOWHERE for if they did…THEY THEMSELVES WOULD BE IN THE VIDEOS. Only trust people who are ACTUALLY at the place they are talking about and not somebody whose ONLY work in the video is from pictures and videos that THEY DID NOT MAKE THEMSELVES.

i would only recommend Vancouver/Victoria/Richmond/New Westminster/Hope/Kelowna/Penticton or somewhere along the sunshine coast – Vancouver/Victoria/Richmond r THE MOST Expensive to buy a property. Food is affordable ironically speaking. Taxes are high and people r not that friendly sometimes. Hard to find work. Stay away from old chinatown and east hasting street area after 11 pm. Impossible to drive after snow fall, rain at least 5 month out of a year, lots of homeless people, high crime rate. If you are not a millionaire, stay away southern BC. I will not recommend northern BC unless you go there to work, work, work, work, work, work only…

People people, run 🏃 from this idiot who is lazy…or visa versa…run 🏃 from this lazy butt who is an idiot. Listen to the "voice" it is a robotic voice from a voice program. This person sits on their butt and does nothing but take incomplete information which is NOT throughough information from the internet and publishes on a video to make money from Youtube's advertisements if enough people watch and or subscribe. You want to know more about a state or a country then watch videos from people who ACTUALLY LIVE THERE. And anyone who subscribed to this channel is also stupid because it's like taking medical advice from a baker or taking cosmetic advice from a painter or taking cooking advice from a plumber. You want advice or real information about something…GO STRAIGHT TO THE PERSON WHO MADE A VIDEO WHO ACTUALLY LIVES THERE. Run from this person who made this video as fast and as far away as you can.

Some of the worst places to live. Your first clue to this is the word "diversity", which means overrun with immigrants that refuse to integrate as Canadians. The last thing I want as a Canadian is to live in a place that is not majority Canadians. That means they must be of first nations descent or european. All the rest are invaders just trying to take advantage of us.
