It’s been years, but litteray It’s been years, but litteray years that I wait to be able to make this video But today is the day Today we’re talking electric skateboard And more specifically, the NIMBUS So, no, not this one, but this one It’s been about 2 or 3 years that my obsession about electric transportation is skateboard But before going any further and talk about the details, let’s see the unboxing When you’ll open your Nimbus you’ll have The instructions, very important but that nobody every reads, the remote, The board itself a tool to adjust your trucks a UK power adaptator, the charger, And Allen keys To be completely honest, I have no skateboarding background So all the impressions and what I’ll tell you next Come from a complete skateboarding beginner But what I can tell you first is that it’s pure fun to ride It’s truly awesome you have a true impression to fly on the road, it’s really enjoyable It’s quite fast, we’ll come back on that later You have a really great time riding this Elwing board On top of that, the board is really beautiful, the battery is pretty discrete the board is concave and get a little tail esthetically, it’s a really a great product. Now, let’s talk about the specs What’s announce by the brand on the box we’ll start with the most important thing for me In an electric skateboard : the range why did I want an electric skateboard ? It’s to try to replace public transportations I want to make it a transportation mode on its own And the announce range is : 7miles To show what it represents It’s Bordeaux (9th biggest city in France) From North to South And crossing the whole city is about 6miles clearly not an everyday commute So 7miles average range is more than enough And I recorded a ride of 5 miles and the board still had juice So I think we can easily say that yes the autonomy announced is true Moreover I’m a pretty weighty guy which affects a lot speed and battery life big thumbs up for the Nimbus 2nd important thing when you want to use your electric skateboard SPEED Because you want to be able to go from point A to B That can be very far, but you want to do it as fast as possible And the top speed announced by Elwing is18mi/h You have two modes : slow and fast I only used the “slow” mode so far to ride it ! I quickly tried the “fast mode” still too fast for me ^^ The biggest difference is obvisouly the top speed but it also is the acceleration curve You reach top speed way more faster with the “fast” mode average speed in “slow mode” in a 5 miles ride : 11m/h battery left after the ride : +50% charging time : 90 minutes 45 minutes with quick charger (sold separately) If the majority of the electric skates market is made of longboards It’s not the case for the Nimbus which makes the same size as an classic skateboard and there is a good reason for that And the reason is that Elwing is a french brand From Bordeaux precisely (my town) You now get why I was so happy to be able to talk to you about it And as it’s a french brand, they decided to make a smallest board because smallest=more handy and then more adapted to french and european cities. It also means way more easier to carry around because when can take it without it touching the ground and keep your arms straight. I just have one or two things that bothers me : the battery indicators is only on the board So when you ride it, you can’t know what battery left without stepping down of the board And it is pretty vague the power button blinks with 3 different colors green between 100 and 60% when you have a lot of juice orange when you will be between 30 and 60%, and red between 30 and 0% so yeah, not very precise especially when you want to go for long rides if you see it blink red you can be at 30 like you can be at 10% And not having a precise battery indicator is pretty inconvenient I also would have loved to have an app going with the board where we could see the battery level changing the skate’s mode how many miles we made since we have the board but this point is really something optional It’s just something on the side I would have enjoyed Finally, one of the most important thing Is the price ! As I said before The nimbus is a really good electric skateboard In term of performances, details and material quality … It’s not a low and quality product and the price is 799€ It can be a bit scary but to picture it differently For someone like me who wants to use only the skate and make it it’s primary mode of transportation An annual subscription to public transports in Bordeaux costs 492€ so in less than 2 years, You have payback the investment And you’ll no longer have to wait you bus, tramway, your subway, and all the interruptions of traffic : GONE and trust me, in Bordeaux, we know a bit about this … The NIMBUS can also be a good complement to public transports Then the price may be consider twice But, you’ll get a really good product with good performances That’s it for this review, I hope you liked it Tell me in the comments if the electric skateboards is something that interests you or electric in general and if you own an electric skateboard I’m very curious to know wich one it is So tell me in the comments And I see you soon in a next video !
