Going that fast you can feel the wind across your face. It definitely looks dangerous. I thought it’d be something challenging. Let’s give it a try and the worst thing that happens you fall, you get back up and keep on going. I had my share of being bullied. There was days I would come home upset. I’d be crying. It was not easy. But you take it as a challenge and try and drive past that and prove them wrong and do the best that I could possibly do. My name is Evan and I’m a speed skater from Team Canada. Special Olympics has given me the opportunity to make new friends, go stronger and faster as an athlete and representing Canada feels absolutely amazing. Knowing all the training that I put in back home the hard work, all the sweat, putting in 110% knowing that in the end it will pay off, that I’ll get the results that I want to get. I was definitely one of those kids that was small. Doctors and them would say it would be very tough for me growing up. They’d say I’d be lucky if I grew past five feet, but here I am now at 5 foot 7 going strong and making it to worlds.
