you want to get insane with the heating run some water lines just underneath your floor and have copper lines spiral through a fire away from your shelter and use natural heat induction to circulate and heat your shelter. depending on fire it could keep going all night.

Total lie. You didn't need to cut the tree for safety. Firewood for your dad but not safety. In fact that was the whole reason to be there wasn't it?

I was okay in this video until he started inciting his particular deity as the creator of everything. Can we enjoy nature without inciting Imaginary Friends?

Create a small hanging locker for your winter clothes on one or both ends of your shelter. you could have an outside door, and also have an internal door to get them when you wake up. Just an idea that probably has a 100 reasons for being a bad one, but I don't sleep outdoors in arctic conditions that often. 🙂

I appreciate your low-tech approach to heating, but when you said you wanted to include solar panels, it's clear you're not apposed to tech. One suggestion for heat is to make a coil of tubing that you can put down in the coals of your camp fire. Flexible tubing to your shelter can feed tubing laid in your flooring, or possibly a radiator like an oil cooler. a small bilge pump can circulate antifreeze through your tubing and transfer heat from your camp fire to your shelter. Another idea is to build a wood burning stove on the outside of your shelter and duct air vents through it to heat exchange the air as it enters your shelter (kind of a wood burning forced air heater). Yet another idea is to build a rack above your floor to put your bedding on and place your hot rocks between the floor and the rack on pans (like cookie sheets). A small 12 volt fan can help circulate your hot spots and distribute your heat more uniformly. Great job!

You might try using a thin layer of foam on the floor rather than a blanket. It will radiate your body heat and be more comfortable.

Instead of camping, I watch this. That way, I don't have to spend the 2nd and 3rd day regretting why I even went camping in the first place.

Please check out Glauber's Salt (Sodium sulphate decahydrate, a phase change material that can hold 10x heat as water, and melts at 90 F. Build it into your floor and direct hot air from fire there to store heat a cubic meter hold a million BTUs.

I think the over engineer/nervous nelly in me would want a much wider ski base on that considering how tall it is. I can only see the horror movie of it tipping over going on in my head.

Sure looks to me like a boy playing Boy Scout in his grandparents property you can tell he has no clue what he is doing only what he has read or watching on YouTube! But I appreciate the effort on making it look as if he was off grid ! With close comfort a short distance away!

In Texas, that's what coyotes sound like. There a reason for that? I'm not saying there not wolves, I'm saying is this just dog pack noise? Or do different canines act/sound the same during certain times of the year? I could look into it, I suppose. Cool video man.
