what is up y'all it's another day out here at CWC in the Philippines and today I'm gonna be talking to you guys about stances I'm gonna basically just ride around and do a skinny stance to wide stance comparison I normally ride one in we're also one out which is the middle stance option you can kind of see my footprint of where it usually is first I'm going to go out there and ride skinny stance and kind of give my opinion about it and then go out there and give a wide stance to give my opinion about that gonna be the least biased as I possibly can although I did used to ride wide stance so I may be biased towards that but I'm gonna try the best not to be but ya see y'all out there I'm just gonna carve around a little bit and get used to having my feet a little bit closer together before my filmer gets out here it's actually gonna be James Bo's is my filmer so ya see on the lap alright here's Bo Joe he's gonna fill me pretty good so that that noseprint did feel a little bit weird to me just because I'm not used to it I think I'm just like a little bit further away from the nose so it's like harder for me to like get up on the tip actually but it felt pretty good nonetheless but yeah we'll just go on to the next thing I'm just gonna do like a back three up the kicker and kind of feel out what the swing way will feel like and yeah so that felt pretty good I can definitely feel a little bit more swing weight but I feel like it kind of made me wait and pause so I feel like it might have looked a little bit better than it will on the wide stance but I'm not sure yet so y'all can tell me that in the comments later I'm just going to kind of try and go like pretty big like do a glide or something and see how like the landings feel with this dance the landing felt like okay like not super hard or anything it kind of felt like yeah I don't know I don't know if I noticed much difference maybe like a little bit more like getting pulled forward if that makes any sense but yeah wasn't much of a difference from the center stance it may be a huge gap from the wide one though so I'm not sure I'll tell y'all whenever I do the wide one I'm gonna do a couple of rail hits really quick and then uh yeah just see what it feels like I did pretty much like basic rail hits I'm gonna do the same exact ones on the wide stance but on here it felt like it felt really cool like spinning out just because of the extra swing weight but on the rail I did feel like a little less stable because I couldn't get like as far I'm one player or the other just because they're like closer together I guess I think it would be something that happened get used to and it would probably feel more natural to me but yeah I'm gonna do a tail wheelie on this board really quick and see what that kind of feels like and then we're gonna switch out to Wystan so the wheelie definitely took me a lot more tries than usual I'm not used to the stance yet so that could be it but I did feel to be a bit further away from the tip and it felt like I had to lean back a lot harder but uh wasn't too bad it took like three tries so yeah let's go hop on the wider stance board now gotta get screwdriver we're just gonna we're gonna undo this real quick and then we'll get back on the water so I'm pretty sure this change is gonna be a massive difference you can see how wide they are now and ya gonna get out there on the water and feel it out real quick and they'll have bows you come out with me so I'm just gonna cruise around for a laugh again the stance definitely already feels massively different like I wish like I would have gone back to the middle and then back all the way out so it it kind of like didn't feel like such a massive gap but it definitely feels like a huge gap but bow just coming out I'll see on say the swing weight was definitely much less on the back one like Ollie back one and uh I don't know I kind of liked the swing way more on the skinny stance but uh the back one like the landing whenever I felt like a little bit more stable when I was like wrapped up so yeah I don't really know what you want to choose on that yeah next thing we'll just do that a quick backside three up the kick here again and see what it feels like yeah the swing way is definitely left I feel like my backside 3 looks much worse on this dance but the landing was definitely more stable we're gonna do a big old method again and see what the landing fields like that in comparison to the skinny stand so I don't really know if the landing was actually softer on either one but it definitely felt like more stable like I wasn't getting pulled out the front but uh yeah so maybe if if you're doing really big or something maybe a little bit wider of a stance might be the better option well yeah that's really a few I'm gonna hit a couple rails real quick and see what this one feels like and yeah I'll get back to you on few seconds so yeah with all the real hits there's a few different things I felt like on the skinny stance board the swing weight really helped with like not spinning early out on the rails so kind of definitely one in that category like maybe like small technical hits I think the skinny stance beats out the wide stance it was a little bit easier for me to press on the nose press on the wide stance maybe over time the steam any stance could beat it out just because of like extra nose and tail but yeah they built to have their pros and cons we're gonna go to a little tail wheelie and see how that goes so it's definitely easier to get into the wheelie position on the on the wide stance but it's way easier to overdo it but yeah we'll just try it again so the wide stance yeah definitely easier to get in the wheelie feels like you're gonna kind of overdo it a bit though but yeah I'm gonna go to the doc and just talk to y'all about like both stances and like an overview of it all I'm just gonna do a quick overview of both stances the wide stance definitely had like a more stable landing then the skinny stance when dropping from like a really high drop off of a kicker if you're doing it like small kicker hits either one are fine that's perfectly okay on the tail wheelies they both have their disadvantages the skinny stance was hard to get up on the tail and then the wide stance was really easy to overdo it and like fall on your back so they both have the disadvantages for that one on the on the rails the wide stance kind of had a disadvantage for like spinning out it was really easy to spin early they didn't really have a nice swing weight whereas the skinny stance had that swing way and uh it felt really nice spinning out because you knew you weren't like Zhi Qing or anything so maybe like for like tech rail hits and things like that the skinny stance is kind of gonna kind of going to win that world the skinny stance also had more nose and tail so when you're like doing like a back lip or or something like that it felt a lot easier to get the rail underneath the outside of the bindings as for pressing I felt a lot better nose pressing on the wide stance just because I was closer to the tip and it was a lot easier to get over it maybe over time it would be easy on the skinny stance just because I'm not used to it I'm not used to either stances but the skinny stance does have more nose so you may be able to press that one more but as of right now I definitely like the wide stance more for that at the end of the day I'm definitely gonna stay with riding the middle stance just cuz it kind of gets like the best of both worlds that's my personal preference you guys should try every stance just to see what you like because you know we're all different and uh yeah just write whatever stance you want they're all good skinny stance wide stance middle stance it's all your personal preference so just do what you want right how you want it's all going to be good fun and yeah I want to be out here making videos every second day forever if you like these videos make sure you guys go subscribe give me a comment on that video you want to see and yeah give me a thumbs up and I'll see you all next time peace you

Nice video! Do you feel like the impact is greater on your knees with a wider stance? I’ve gone a little narrower each season the past couple years because it seems to put less stress on the knees. Curious of your thoughts on that aspect of stance width. Thanks again!

Nice observation, analysis and feedback on stance width. I've settled on one in one out over the past couple of seasons. Just wider than my shoulders… Will you be doing board size? I have gone up bigger (139 > 142) for this season. So really interested in other peoples thoughts. Fantastic work JB, always liked and appreciated so much my man! Peace ;0)

hey JB! Liked this video, but would be interested to see your thoughts on big vs small board, maybe do the same video but with a 150 vs a 140 board or something similar?

Could you please do a How To on how to ride blind and 180 to blind?
I find it super scary to try because i'm afraid my heel side catches the water and I'm dead. If I try it, I turn back automatically
