Ola Youtube my name is Ricardo Lino and I’s a wheel addict , today’s video well let me tell you something I’m ready to read
some shit in the comments in this video reason for that being well I’m going to
make a review of what I called the 2018 Salomon skate why am I doing this well a
few months ago I made a video I think like the way that I communicated might
have not been the best and a lot of people got me in a way that I hate
people skating Solomon skates and it has nothing to do with that a lot of people
also think that I do hate this skate Solomon and it’s not true the reason why
I made that video it’s because I see a lot of people skating skates from brands
that are not producing skates anymore and I do understand that a lot of people
really like those skates these skates and other brands such as SSM NIEM even
Bauer’s through the main message with that video was to make people understand
how important it is to support the brand supporting these industry right now and
a lot of people commented on that video saying that when someone is using a
Salomon nowadays they’re actually supporting our industry because they end
up buying new wheels they end up buying new frames they end up buying new liners
and that’s why I’m doing this video basically that’s exactly what I did I do
believe it’s a really good boot so the liner was messed up so I’m kind of happy
that I made the setup the way I did and what I’m using right here it’s it’s a
second skin liner but because it’s a really old skate you can see here this
gray thing it’s a piece of what used to be an amazing shock absorber which
I guess it’s melted the whole shock absorbers it’s hard to show I don’t know
if you can see it here but the whole shock absorber is just it’s gone it’s
not there anymore it used to be amazing so I’m using the second skin liner from
my feet then I’m just using some extra long laces round laces extra long that
after tiding on top they just go around and I thought them again I had to change
the buckles because the buckles that I that came on these skates they were too
short for me to use with this liner so I had to change that then this is the
frame that I was skating on my USD sevens and on my G boot by the way the G
boots are about to come out soon what I did here was it’s basically a wish frame
with some 55 undercover wheels that used to have like a flat profile they don’t
have that flat profile anymore and some Ricci eyes are 68 millimeters in front
the bearings that I have here are the weekend I think it’s the ilq9 classic
which is one of my favorite bearings from weekend like the relation quality
price it’s actually really really good so there was this kid that I used first
impressions that I have about this skate is sorry
everyone that thought that I hate this guy because this skate is actually
really good how can I explain that why do I say is it that good it feels good
does that make sense so it feels really good I would say that as an aggressive
skate and someone that skates a lot of free skates or urban skates whatever you
want to call it this is an aggressive skate that feels like an urban scale I
am not sure if it’s because of the heel box which is amazing on these skates the
cuff is kind of low it doesn’t have a lot of forward flex I think it’s because
it has it’s riveted in the back but it does his function of supporting and it
somehow still allows you to bend your knees a little bit so comfort wise even
with another liner which is basically my favorite liner it felt really good I
know that people used to love these skates with the stock liner I
like it with the second skin more than I liked it
weed the stock liner but obviously the stock liner that I had was not in a good
condition anymore so that might also be the reason then something that it’s kind
of weird for grind specially for me coming from the USD sevens or the aliens
it feels like the soleplate it’s really really tiny which is not I remember when
it came out it was actually has super wide soleplate so when you look from the
top it looks super slim which is actually really cool something that you
should know also is that this is a 42.5 skate 42 and a half and usually mice
that’s my true size and most of the times I need to use a 43 so size-wise
it’s awesome it feels really really good then like I was saying the soleplate
it’s not the widest one but it works amazing I was scared at first for
topsides but you know what it did work really really good even with the tall
frames such as the wish frame I can tell you that it was not too hard to do top
sides so that has to do of course with a complete PC I wouldn’t say it’s just the
width of the sole plates or it’s the height of the cuff the complete thing
that makes it feel good when we do a top side if that makes sense the back part
of the soleplate the heel of the soleplate it’s a little bit slimmer it’s
a little bit thinner than the front part but when you do a top side it doesn’t
really feel that much of a difference it might feel a little bit of a difference
when I do and like another you top side like in a little top acid or another you
fishman but if you really locked I don’t think that was a problem for me what I
felt that was completely different was when you look from there you see that
the Royall plate it’s basically an existent basically you would need to
real we’d the boot but because it’s not really centered and it’s really deep
like here it was hard it was hard for me to do Royales
but that can also be because I’m using a wish frame at the wish frame is a little
bit taller than the regular aggressive skating frames the tiny bit
taller so when I wanted to do rails or when I wanted to do back slides it felt
a little bit harder I spoke with some people that has been skating with
Solomons for quite a while one of them it’s cloudy on Tony Ellie and he is
actually been doing sole plates for Solomons and on those opiates that he
told me that that’s one of the main reasons why is doing those soap is
because on that sole plate he improved the royal plate for these kids if you’re
scanning them like this you’re gonna need to bend a lot to be able to do
rails and back slides and all that stuff and we need soap it it should be easier
but having such a deep soleplate also add some advantages example when I
wanted to do unities it felt like yes I had to bend my feet a little bit more
which in a unity doesn’t really make that much of a difference
it actually looks even better because your foot instead of being like here go
like here so it looks better and you bent your foot a bit more but because
it’s deep here it looks really really good so unity grinds
I think it’s nothing new for anyone but unity grinds with Sullivan’s it feels
really really good really cool too because it’s not a whole soleplate it’s
not a whole one piece when you grind there’s less surface touching so when
you want to do like a sole trick it’s super fast compared to to a USDA n or to
a USD 7 or even to a razor shift because it’s two pieces the soleplate it just
grinds faster now cons like I just said alright it was a little bit harder for
me to do some Royale tricks back slide tricks but the biggest con in grinds was
torque tricks I ended up doing some full torques I didn’t film any full torque I
did it some I did some front side full torques and back side full Turks but
when I wanted to do just the torque just a one-foot torque it always felt a
little bit scary I felt like I would need to bend a lot again because I was
using a really tall frame so I would say maybe to build a skate like these I
would need to change the soleplate reason I didn’t want to change the
soleplate I didn’t want to cut it I think people need to do some cuts
underneath the boot and that didn’t really want to cut these boots so the
last thing is amazing because it’s just tighter and then on top once you pull it
in the front it just it just locks the laces there so it feels good what can I
say in conclusion about this skate I’m sorry
to everyone I might have communicated completely
wrong with all of you when I said shit about the Salomon skates
I still stand for the same and it’s not about Salomon skates it’s in general
it’s important for all of us to support the companies out there producing skates
nowadays still stand for the same but seeing a lot of people skating with
these skates with all these different parts even like even the buckle added I
needed a buckle would be possible to find some Salomon buckles so you gotta
need to use like a USD buckle power slide buckle razors buckle whatever
you’re gonna end up changing that so in the end yes you’re gonna need parts you
might not be using the main shell boot from a main brand yeah even the shock
absorber you would need to change something like this so you’re only using
this piece and like a lot of people said it’s not gonna last forever so if you
were one of those affected by my video or if you felt like I was pointing
fingers at you I’m sorry about that I didn’t mean it in a way that I wanted to
to make people feel bad about it it’s true I do believe this is an amazing
skate but I also do believe that we need we inline skaters not as someone who
work in the industry but as someone who loves to skate
we need brands to keep producing their products and for them to produce their
products we need to support them so yeah I guess that’s it I hope you enjoyed
this video if you did enjoy this video do not forget to subscribe to the
channel click on that pal and you’ll get notifications every time I upload one of
these and if you liked it give me a thumbs up if you didn’t like it give me
some thumbs down if you’re gonna say shit about this video I’ll write it I’ll
try to answer to all of you and if you’re doing Salomon skins if you’re
building a set of Soloman skates or if you’re building any
other skater if you want to buy a complete skate well you should know that
you can use code lino at atom skate comm or blade feel calm and you’ll get 10%
discounts on everything that you buy there from the full skate to the liner
to the soleplate I don’t think they sell Salomon soul
plates but it’ll sell everything else and I guess that’s it oh by the way I
have a new pair of aggressive skate so if you want to see what aggressive
skates are those maybe watch one of the next videos know what I always say
I just don’t forget why we all started skating and that is because it’s fun
cheers guys and see you soon

Hey Ricardo, first of all i want thank you for your Videos! You inspired me to start with aggresive and its so much fun. I just got me the USD Realm Black and they are very comfy but the upper part is very loose after a few Minutes of jumps and grinds, is it supposed to be that loose?

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work, i wish you all the best!

    Greetings from Germany

What's news about powerslide (usd) Quantum see on 2018 catalogue??

  • August 23, 2018 at 6:51 pm

Good review, I think skating like you said, is the most important part, rather than the brand of gear you use.

  • August 23, 2018 at 7:04 pm

    Heyyyy Ricardo,

I have to congratulate you on making this review. You have my utmost respect for biting the bullet, but at least now you have made it clear once and for all.

People are hoping for a manufacturer to pick up the moulds as that would be the skate people want on their feet. Like you said, it is mega comfortable.
    Just some pointers:
    – the ideal replacement shock absorber would be the Razor SL shock absorber. (Thanks to Alexander from the This Is Soul.nl shop)
    – as far as current gen soulplates go for the Salomon boot, Kingery Souls provides a set of soulplates where you do not have to cut / modify your boot that much.
    – there is an open source project for Salomon soulplates on Facebook called Salomon ST0, in which you can create your own 3d file that can be used for CNC creations.

Once again thanks and much respect from the Netherlands.

Bro your skating is rad as heck!

  • August 23, 2018 at 7:33 pm

Really appreciate you going into a bit more detail about your last Salomon video. I didn’t find it as controversial as others to be honest! I think buying new skates is a great way to support an industry you care about. The internet is full of knee jerk keyboard warriors, hi five for a measured response

  • August 23, 2018 at 7:48 pm

    Wow nice intro

  • August 23, 2018 at 7:59 pm

Good to see more of skating… but more importantly nice jumper!

  • August 23, 2018 at 8:25 pm

When are you going to get a pair of USD Shadow? I'm excited about this skate and would love to hear your thoughts.

  • August 23, 2018 at 8:33 pm

Vou viverrrrr…. that's it bro! I bought an St80 a few months ago and the liner and shock absorber are completely destroyed… I needed to put the boot under water and clean all the shit hahahha… now I'm using razors SL shock absorber and it fits awesome and also a new liner. #kaltik frames and stock wheels for a while. iProud 👊🏻… I hope Salomon brand surrender our pressure and turn back to inline skates industry! Tks… greetings from Brazil!

  • August 23, 2018 at 10:30 pm

I still have the first free-skates Salomon Deflectors FSK 2001. Here I used them with Trimax 3×110 for fitness skating in park lol – https://youtu.be/3cNM9U2R6SY

  • August 23, 2018 at 11:12 pm

I have a pair of Salomon Pilot 110. They used to make realy good skates and were active in the skating community. But Iagree with you : they decided to stop skating products not because they were losing money, but because it was not as lucrative as the other branchs. We need brands and people that promote our sport.

Roces is not what they uses to be, Salomon retired. Powerslide does a lot for our sport and it's a good thing that Rollerblades got back in the game. We need the brands to get involed into the sport, we need more presence in the media. We need to not be a secret society

  • August 24, 2018 at 12:17 am

positive boot contour, for average feet maybe, light shell, the best balanced feet skate… im weird I could smash a graal like a mad man. my two cents

  • August 24, 2018 at 2:24 am

Sick intro. Maybe the title of the other video boiled peoples piss haha. Great video man as always

  • August 24, 2018 at 7:29 am

What is your opinion about the Gawds Franky morales Pro? Have you ever skated it?
Btw I think you are right about the fact, we need to support the Industrie. The Sport needs to grow and it grows with new Products and Companys getting Money to put it back in the scene with new Products and Sponsoring etc…

  • August 24, 2018 at 10:29 am

Thanks for making this video. I understood your first video and the message you were making. BTW the skating was great in the beginning. Also I'm, a Salomon Skater and I love them, but I buy new bits for them to support. Also there is a guy in the US that makes soul plates for these so you can royale etc in them and they're amazing. They're called King souls.

  • August 24, 2018 at 1:45 pm

Massive respect for opening clips alone 🙌
    Kill'n it Lino!

  • August 24, 2018 at 6:49 pm

Hola Ricardo! You should make more videos skating like this. Your skating stile is very nice. Does that mean that you should skate more with your Salomon? 🤣

  • August 24, 2018 at 8:13 pm

I just want to say that Salomon is a good skate but thanks to you I bought me some USD Aeon's and I love them so thanks for that and thanks for your videos Ricardo, stay up!

  • August 25, 2018 at 12:28 am

    LOL people still rollerblade?

  • August 25, 2018 at 8:25 am

I didn’t watched the rest of this video for someone who was strongly disagreeing of buying dead skates and yet you review them? Im not slating, just scratching my head on this one.

  • August 26, 2018 at 5:24 pm

I have a salomon hybrid with king soul, intuition liners and 50/50 frame . And love them.
Love your videos and keep up the good work

  • August 28, 2018 at 4:11 pm

glad your knee is holding up after that scare

  • August 29, 2018 at 10:47 pm

These skates shouldn't be reviewed at this point. We know it's a superior boot! Solomon has more experience making boots then inline skate manufacturers because of their ski boot experience. They also had an endless budget to make them.

That being said you should have at least upgraded the soulplates and replaced the shock absorber like everyone else who skates the skate.

Also people who generally skate these skates don't just own one pair of skates. They have a selection to choose from just like you do and they skate these when they feel like it.

I'm currently riding USD's and videos like this turn me off to them. Focus on your skating because honestly that's your best asset. This Solomon argument is old and looks like an attempt to grab views.

  • September 7, 2018 at 6:31 am

Hey you are pretty good skater,..

  • September 8, 2018 at 3:47 pm

    sick tricks and nice music

  • October 3, 2018 at 1:49 am

You travel so much, you should post detailed skatepark videos. They can be destination attractions. You got to have serious jet lag.

  • October 10, 2018 at 4:04 am

Those are best for park skating

  • December 9, 2018 at 4:40 am

Please tell me what are the best bearings for the money I have band new razors and they are so slow I'm actually falling forward. Maybe they sat on the shelf so long that they have no grease left idk I suck anyway lol

  • December 21, 2018 at 7:29 am

    It feels good…

    (Does that make sense?)

  • December 21, 2018 at 7:30 am

I ride Salomon skates. Hoping to get some xsjados.

  • January 6, 2019 at 12:29 am

I have some salomon rob thomson's from like 2006 I barely used still in my garage 😛 they look so nice but I 100% agree with you, support the brands who keep the sport ALIVE 🙂

  • January 22, 2019 at 6:32 pm

the industry should copy this design if that's what people want. you don't have to worry about people buying dead skates.

  • January 25, 2019 at 11:17 am

The only skates that don't hurt my feet. I've bought Aeons, Sls, Valos and they all give me ankle pain except Salos

  • May 2, 2019 at 11:44 pm

    Salomon , the best skater

  • May 13, 2019 at 3:36 am

All my life I wanted to have a Solomon but where I was born it was impossible because they were extremely expensive, but right TODAY I bought some second hand salomon st1, but the thing is 1 year ago I bought some ALCHEMY Skates and now i want to try using MyFit Liners with Soulplate Alchemy and shel Salomon. I think it can be a good custom and a good idea for some company to bring back that model of skates.

  • June 5, 2019 at 6:17 pm

I love my Salomon pilot v10 skates

  • July 17, 2019 at 1:43 pm

    Excelente video amigo! Parabéns

Hi Ricardo just came across your channel, plenty of great videos buddy.

I've not skated for over 10 years, but back when I did I had USD Prius -lol, K2, and then loads of razors genesis from murdas to shima browns and the last straw for me was putting the frame through the bottom of the boot of my 3 week old Jeff Stockwell's, they later added the 1 piece soles for I assume to aid that problem, but while I was out of action I borrowed some Salomon st90 black skates and really loved them but struggled with torques, then when a friend quickly got into and out of skating I bought his st80's and chucked the razor 1 piece soles and backslide plate on, razor cuff buckles and reign liners, holy shit they were solid skates, still have them in the loft, all my other razors and such died eventually so credit to Salomon for making a solid boot, the shock absorber is still the best out of any skate I've had.

I did try get back into it even purchasing the classic razor boot when they re released it as the st80's didn't fit anymore, no shock absorber in the heel was an immediate no for me, even bought a new brand liner to try help it but sadly they are sat in the loft too, since then I bought some salo feinbergs with the intention of doing up with custom sole plates again but have yet to start, in the UK at least, last time I tried shopping for ANY skate part or new boots there was literally 2 shops and both had an extremely limited range. For me the salo boot just works, I yearn for some classic tall white reign liners from the old shima genesis, the modern liners I've bought may technically be better but I need my foot loose not strapped down by the liner itself, the reigns were always perfect, not too tight but enough to aid with torques, I've still got Osgood's latters disease from my teens and a gammy leg from a broken tibia, so these old lust's of mine are somewhat justified, I've tried new and it's gone a different way, even my old skating buddy bought the carbon usds and hated the lightness and lack of movement, it's just what we we comfortable with at the time and still comfortable with now.

If anyone had made it to the end of this, please link me to UK skate shops online, I still watch the videos and will one day get back up the skatepark, no hipster old boot movement just sticking with what I know, it's all changed now watching videos online, its now big wheels, flat setups, tall frames, moulded liners ect, I don't know where to start😂

I remember skating these around 2003 and hating them at the time. I felt like they were shaky and I could feel every bump on the ground. Obviously the fact that I was skating some TSR did have an impact on that cuz they were insanely stable and wide. I did like how light they felt. I"m wondering how I would feel about them now after skating some v13
