Hi adiadv10.  I was on the bus at the bottom of the hill and responded to the young lady.  I agree with you that you "Never move someone unless it will help prevent further injury or death."  We were in the middle of no-where.  It was going to be 30-45 minutes before an ambulance would show up and she was developing respiratory problems.  We had to get her down the hill.  We arrived at the bottom of the hill with her about the time the ambulance arrived.

My brother went down a steep hill like that one, he smashed his arm into a tree on the way down. He broke his hand and wrist in the process. He was very lucky.

What an amazing story, as a person with asbergers, riding has been a part of my life for most of it. It's wonderful therapy and I recommend it to anyone with a disability.

Shawna is a fighter and an inspiration! Obviously it's a reenactment, but please don't ever do what the actors did with the first girl! If she'd been badly hurt, moving her alone could've paralyzed or even killed her. Never move someone unless it will help prevent further injury or death.

If you see her riding a horse that would tell you she's paralyzed from the chest or legs down. If she were paralyzed from the neck down there's no way she would be able to ride the horse….

I went sledding once at a park and I hit a tree at full speed. I walked away without a scratch but I hit a lady before the sled bounced back into some rocks. I guess she had a few scratches and her leg hurt but it was nothing serious. The sled i was using crumpled in the front but i really believed it saved me from serious injury.

I'll never forget the day I went sledding on a neighborhood sledding hill with a pretty big amount of trees around it. A girl and her friend went down the hill and lost control. The girl in front saw she was headed towards a tree but the girl behind her found out to late. All I remember is screaming at her to jump without knowing her name or anything. The girl hit the tree face first and she was just laying there. My friend and I ran down and slipped and slid to her. continued

It's things like this that make me wish that in the future, hopefully sooner than later, we'll find a cure for paralysis.

Something very similar happened to me. I was with a youth…we went 8 on a tube. Luckily none of us were paralized although it is a miriacle. I was on the very top of the pile. I thank God and EMS everyday.
Please only tube on proper hills! Not in the forest.

I think that snow-tubing should be illeagle, I would rather go down a hill on a sled, it's much safer, then an innertube.

    2. How in the world can she stay balanced on a horse if she's paralyzed from the chest down??

As soon as the first girl slammed into the tree trunk i would have jumped off the tube and rolled to a stop.
