all right so thank you all so much for the feedback on my topside trick excursion I've been I've been trying to learn him again and you know when I started doing topsides it was a long long time ago and I don't know that I learned them correctly so I'm trying to relearn topsides and I figure the best way to do that is start with a grind that I've never done so that I can really focus on the proper form of doing topside tricks and I feel like after I get that form down I'll be able to do other topside tricks knowing how to do topsites properly so I got a lot of great feedback and again really appreciate it I'm expecting more feedback in this one because I'm gonna try again I'm here at my backyard grind box and I'm gonna really focus on doing topside Pornstar again you know I've heard from a lot of people that maybe it's not the best trick to start learning on but for me it feels fairly safe it feels like if I can spot that front foot and if I could drag my back foot I can kind of keep myself from slipping out the biggest fear with topside tricks is getting too far over it and sliding out because you don't have that much room to miss you know if you're doing a Royale or groove trick or if you're doing even a sole trick you've got a lot of space you got that whole sole with a top side trick if I miss by a little bit I'm gonna slide out and I don't want to do that so I feel like top side pornstars probably the right way to do it I don't know that I'm doing it the right foot I'm gonna try with my left foot I'm gonna try with my right foot and see which one feels more natural I'm gonna work on stalling it I think that's one of the things that I really didn't do super well last time when I was trying them you need to really stall it and get in the position so that my back foot stays on the ledge in here I've got coping so it's gonna be a lot easier for me but the ledge is a little low and a lot of people told me that I should really do it on a taller ledge so I can get down lower jump higher but get down lower so it's a lot easier to bend my knees so I'm going to warm up a little bit do some grinds and then focus on that top side point it is really tiring skating this you know there's corner pipes at each end so I can have a little speed my legs are already tired from pumping up the quarters fed I guess that's the point you know get in shape backyard much better than going to the skate park all right top top horn here we go all right yeah I feel like I've started locking them a little bit I've fallen a few times and learned that it doesn't hurt that much I do have my kneepads on so fairly protected but definitely gonna fall doing this I'm opening up my hips a lot more so one of the things that I noticed when doing the last video is I was attacking it very much parallel with the with a Ledge and really I need to come into it more kind of like a radius you know so when I jump on I need to treat it more like a back favre more like a unity back sight unity so I open my hips and look out instead of looking down that'll give me that balance from the back foot that I need and then now I just need to figure out how to lock that front foot so I think I got it try it with a little bit of speed see if I can slide a little bit okay that last one felt good I know that I have a lot of coping here and because it's so raised because it's not flat like a ledge I feel like I can do the top side and roll a little bit but not roll you know what I mean so if this were a flat ledge I definitely be rolling right now but I don't think that's a problem I think learning it on coping getting the stall right getting the the balance right and the feeling when you slide I think that's more important and then I can always on this you know I have the option right I can I can go almost rolling which is like standing up or I can go almost flat which is like a ledge if I'm learning I'm gonna do whatever comes natural and then I can always adjust myself so that when I land on this I balanced myself over and then it's like I'm grinding a ledge yeah this is feeling good I'm gonna do a couple more and then I'm gonna try it switch and see what comes more natural alright that's feeling great still not super consistent of course but definitely feels like I'm locking on right I think for me the biggest trick was bending my leaves a lot more I'm sure that my knees aren't as bent as they need to be but bending my knees a lot more and really opening those hips you know turning my body so that my shoulders instead of facing down there Ledge are facing open a little bit that made a huge difference you know I could tweak my back foot over which kept the back foot from falling off and I still had that front foot that I could see where I was landing it so I feel like I found that good balance next things I need to do with that is I know that most of my weight is on my top side foot right now I need to balance it out more on the back you know kind of like a tea kettle I guess I need to do more of that and yeah I need to just stay off it you know I'm coming off on the on the dirt side I need to come off on the ramp side more but it feels good and I'm sliding it so I'll take that as a win all right I'm going to try a couple right foot stalls see if it works I'm not gonna push it too much I'm actually pretty tired it's only been like 20 minutes too but skating a ramp and pumping this transition takes a lot more out of me than I I realized so worth a try completely different feeling completely different but maybe easier I don't know definitely relying on that front foot my top side foot that's my normal sole so my right foot is really strong from sole tricks alley-oops old tricks all that stuff my back foot my left foot just kind of dangling there I don't I do anything with that foot but it's feeling somewhat solid I try a little speed well that feels amazing absolutely amazing yeah just squatting down so much I'm watching the video I'm probably not that low but I feel like guy Crawford you know getting super low all right I think that's the trick maybe don't learn on a flat ledge maybe learn on something that's a little more forgiving a little bit of coping probably does wonders to get that feeling down as soon as I can get these pretty consistently I'm gonna try a Ledge again but until then thanks for watching see you next time

Since I got my backside unity, I am wanting to branch out to topsides. Definitely gonna be putting my gforms back on for shin protection. Might even put my knee pads over the gforms for supreme protection 😂

Looking good man… you know what to do now you just have to practice. I am kind of similar in the fact that top porn and switch top porn almost feel the same but right foot is slightly better despite doing topsoul best left footed

This is awesome to see! Thanks for sharing! I’m just re-learning topsides myself. Finally locked a few today on a flat ledge! For me, what worked was the advice in Acosta’s topside video—visualize grinding the frame, and don’t put any pressure toward locking the soul plate onto the side of the thing. What resulted was basically setting up to roll on the ledge with my soul foot, and then pressing down to lock into the grind, kinda like people do when learning to get boot down on royales. When I missed, I just rolled instead of sliding. Really took the fear factor out of it for me!

Do you ever feel like jeans restrict you? I know personally I can't open my hips or bend my knees like I want to with long pants on (though I certainly understand the choice if you know you'll be falling).
