Awesome, reminds me of Big City Mountaineers with regards to its outreach program — which REI definitely should make a video about!

This is so interesting. I ski a lot. I seldom see a black man on the mountain. If I do, he is usually snowboarding. I don't think I've ever seen a black woman. Never thought much about it and definitely never thought about the economics behind it. This video is an eye-opener.

This is beautiful thing to see. Over the years I've been snowshoeing. I've seen many African Americans and Caribbean Americans ski and snowboard. And they are very good at it.
These winter sports aren't just for the rest of the world. This is for them too. And if anybody tells me black people don't ski or snowboard or snowshoe. They are full of shit.
Black people do ski, snowboard, and snowshoe. When I went to Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, Vermont, in March of 2018 on a Saturday.
I went with Ovrride.com. And traveling on the same bus as me, was An African American Snowboard Club.
This club is all adults. They had sweatshirts made up with their clubs name printed on them.
And you know what ? They are very nice people to talk to.
But it's your young Caucasian Americans that are rude people. And being that they're young. They are even rude to me.
To see many ethnic groups of people take part in winter sports is a very positive thing to see.
I would like to see more of them take part in winter sports. Forget about the myth that this is for white folks only.
Winter sports on the snow and ice are for all ethnic groups all over the world that want to participate in them.
I've tried my hand at skiing. And I stink at it. And I know it's not for me.
Snow tubing I did. It's easy to do. But it gets boring after a while.
So I stuck with the easy but challenging thing for me snowshoeing. And I've been snowshoeing for these 26 years.
But now this coming Saturday on 2/23//19. I'm going to take a snowboarding lesson. And I'm 50 years old. If I'm good at it. I'll stay with it. And still do snowshoeing too. I'm not giving up snowshoeing ever.
And if I stink at snowboarding. I'll stick to snowshoeing. It exercises the whole body.
And the last thing is. I would still like to see African Americans and Caribbean Americans take up snowshoeing. It's easy. If you can walk. You can snowshoe.
On a flat trail it's easy. On an incline trail it's easy. But on a decline trail, it's hard.
    And that's it.
