grab your roller skates the rainbow City roller rink is already here in downtown Detroit and opening up today yeah it’s a pop-up rink inside of the 1001 Woodward building 1001 Woodward building right across from Campus Martius the space is designed by an artist group known as friends with you and the men behind the rink say that they’re just trying to spread a little joy so when you see something that’s happy or or it’s adorable you kind of get in that frame of mind and it starts creating this like exuberant kinda like contagious feeling because then everyone is smiling well the roller rink opens today at 2:00 p.m. it is completely free it’s open to the public skate rentals are also free as well the pop-up closes on January 27th but I mean it’s indoors look can we make this a permanent thing you know if you if it’s too cold for you to go ice-skating Campus Martius I should say though no matter the temperature when you go ice-skating you are moving and you don’t get that cold I don’t think we’ve been out there in some pretty cold days you’re invited get your face scraped by that
