elite with master of ceremonies dennis mchenry here are your four competitors in the PBA Tour Finals in the third-place match the number four seed owns seven PBA Tour titles from Gothenburg Sweden yes / Spencer he holds three PBA Tour titles the number three seed from Austin Texas give it up for Anthony Simonson bowling in the championship match the number one seed is the reigning PGA Player of the Year from Orange New South Wales Australia make some noise for Jason he is the defending champion from Huntington Indiana e/j tacky we are set to bowl from suburban Detroit our matchups third-place match two day match here Simonson and yes pers fencing woo head head and the Monty and ej tackett the championship match the final event the PBA Tour Finals here at 2018 will crown a champion today here on CBS Sports Network and here we go power power and more power in store for you fans today starting with Anthony Simonson only 21 years old from Austin boxer dread start both pins had no chance event Simon soon Dave I'll be right back I'm gonna go get Anthony some coffee to go with that sweet roll good start Petersen good start Dave right alongside Randy Pearson Hall of Fame broadcast partner wrapping up a 2018 PBA Tour Finals and here is the two-headed lefty from Sweden yes Benson all 10 down and a nice opening shot by yes for our last telecast we saw him get off to a red-hot start early but as the oil pattern went through transition yes ver struggled it's Dave and Randy with him from Alan Park and the historic Thunderbolt lanes so that's the two got to win two games if it's tied at one then we have some extra bowling night than tent frames terminating a third place finisher in this match lane conditions ready tonight 45 feet named after one of the greatest of all time Dick Weber players are going to start really straight in the track area that's second era on both sides and then just chase it towards the center part of the lane but the characteristics of this whole pattern is that it's very high-scoring sonic seeing all that power the 9-pin stands in a lot of times that power turns on you Anthony Simonson's powerful bowling ball goes right past the nine pin and he's starting off this game using two different balls on each land look out holy cow a unique style two-handed style of Anthony Simonson's three titles including a major for this youngster blast through the rack again in that one three pocket shrapnel solid iron ring ten after a strike and that'll make you scratch your head tied for fit in this event last year in Orlando Florida 10:00 p.m. on May 25 put the upper of hadn't chosen by Jason Belmonte at the top seed – game match it's not total pins win two games and it's over right now this is for third place if they split a game apiece we'll go to a ninth and 10th sudden death roll off so a 9 pin okay it's that good or bad that was a weird hit the unique two-handed style of the southpaw from Sweden follow through to the right side of the head well watch this hit very unusual for snaps – 7 out but the nine standing there's nine there's his mark runner-up in group 2 ej tackett you champ Simonson runner-up to Belmonte as we see yes burrs personal the natural urethane and more urethane in the Esper's arsenal but I asked our statistician PBA champion Mike Edwards what he thought of that last hit Mike your thoughts he just looked at me and shrugged his shoulders he doesn't know either Wow no doubt about that one crushing hit one to pocket all tend back into the pit for yes purse fencing and three strikes first four frames a tenpin lead on Simonson is fourth here working on spare group Juan Belmonte Barrett Simonson and Sean rash knife-hand comedy carbon copy of his last shot on the right lane as the ball goes right by the nine I mean it wasn't even close to hitting the nine makes it up we ask that people like his legacy to be when he's done bowling oh man I don't know I've never never really been asked that you know kind of my biggest thing for me is the sport has given me a lot and I just want to be able to give back you know to the younger generation I try to do what I can to get to local youth events and help out just kind of always knowing that I gave back to something they gave so much he's were bowling basically since he could walk three years old if any Simonson has been in the game and right now the Kerry guys are not looking down upon young Simonson I mean the 4-pin was going down and then got hit and got stood back up crazy carry game on for Anthony Simonson he could easily have five in a row – solid nines a tenpin in that shaker for nine spare four straight frames for Simon after the opening strike only the second ever TV match up with Anthony Simonson two young stars the PBA Tour is to go up by 22 pin 7 pin and right now it's a plethora of bad carry for both players yes / does not have a coach believe it or not his dad helped him a bit growing up but I think what really helps yes / is that himself Martin Laursen and Oh scoop palerma all practice at the same Center in Sweden so they all kind of help each other within 15 minutes at each other back home in Sweden not to go there like a succesful we're bowling but when they are all home together it's usually time for practice session with each other or a lot great for camaraderie let's put grew up with his school and the bowling centre literally next to each other talk about convenient one other note about yes Bert prior to the start of the PBA Tour Finals he bowled the Detroit Cup and shot 22:06 for eight games over 7-pin again keeping things very interesting here neither player has been out of the pocket halfway through this first game and we have one double to show for it seven for the seven-time PGA Tour title if yes was Vincent from Gothenburg Sweden to where the young guns head-to-head Simonson Svendsen battling for third place in the 2018 PBA Tour Finals more polling comes your way next suburban Detroit City and Spence in a head-to-head 3rd place match best the two that went to games if it's one each then we go into some extra bowling Simonson's purple balls now purple and blue thanks to the blue diet blue dye in the oil pattern Anthony loved a strike here six Fran nine pin 9 pin four pin all on the right lane and he didn't like that shot as soon as it left his hand yeah there's a reaction from a player that knows it wasn't his best five in the world nine school again for Simonson but only down to all pins starts your morning right well if he's serving him sports from recapping last night's action to break you down the top stories of the day the boys have you covered – bloomer NGO weekday morning starting at 6:00 Eastern right here on CBS Sports Network in honestly David I mean both players could have all strikes right now through seven and through six and a half frames he's like really Oh hallelujah I'll take it Spence instruct three the first four frames he's had back-to-back spare as well that's more like it [Applause] this cup goes through the pins pretty well here as we take a look at yes where's footwork if you watch real close Stokes both feet will come off the ground right before he enters the foul line this ball here just shreds the rack the urethane man from Sweden and 900 through the four games of qualifying for yes for Spencer to get to the group to final but lost the ej tackett so it's tacit Belmonte for the championship first the third place back [Applause] it's gotta be the Barbizon post-shave replay Randy Peterson for good reason messenger time Randy beautiful a little Swedish dirt coming your way head pins sidewall comes across 10 pin get out of my face silence encounter results he's you know as a player you're you're like what what do I have to do see that frustration and it's warranted I mean Simonson has slaughtered the pocket his only errant shot is when he kind of tucked it a little bit on that Lane the last time up in the six when he left a 4-pin that's it what Cead nut grass grows under his feet that kid grant involvement is ended and he goes fast pace no question not that he's not contemplating the next shot I mean he is a it's his rhythm man he's kind of bowler for sure but he likes to go from yeah he's quick I like that you know the old saying was paralysis for over analysis and that's that's what happens to a lot of players when they stand in the approach for too long yes verse nuts nobody means either getting a few of getting a rhythm now here in Game one the best of two for third place said earlier the one match Simonson against yes versus offense in that was a round-robin part one of the 2017 PBA Tour Finals in Orlando yes for one that one 268 233 big numbers max score for Anthony Simonson 216 yes versus Penson is at t 28 right now any mark here in the 10th frame and yes per will take down Game one that's a good mark which he does the rest was Iraq to begin the tenth he'll take the first game beautiful shot here by yes verse fencing and that's a full rack attack that's we're gonna take Game one fresh Darfur Simon's in a game – this is not total pinfall through two games that's the – third place match battling here for prize money and Alan Park Championship matched same format tacit Belmonte the rematch from seventeen three another ball and still shot test the waters great start for Spencer – 48 [Applause] Sonic's not better carry for science beginning to template min sorry Dave Simonson changing balls on the right lane going to the same ball he's using on the left and finally catches a strike for the first time on the right lane streak of five straight nine spare for Simon's that did him in this match and it's fencing throws at 248 Adam on the Weber pattern that's been got a helicopter and just over the 10th after the game that wasn't going to strike Simonson doesn't miss the pocket shoots 2:05 with a spare amazing it just wasn't gonna move forward it wasn't I mean not close can you come try different ball here and just test the waters is ready to talk about yep 248 204 Game one scored convincing win for yes Chris fencing of Sweden there's one more game to be the third place finisher 2018 PGA Tour Finals talent love Michigan with minutes from downtown Detroit expensive that first game best of two wins this game he was the third place finisher after a convincing 248 204 game one win over Anthony Simonson Tackett Belmonte to follow for the championship still feeling here and again the question is how long does yes pers line to the pocket hold up Simonson blistered the pocket only to shoot 204 and was never out of the pocket one marginal shot in the six where he left the 4-pin that was it some press game more and so I promise you what you're gonna see this game is that the the lanes of transition just enough for Anthony Simonson that he's gonna strike every ball this game and folks like well what was so much different about Game two than Game one and it's all about angle all about Aintree angle into the pocket he watched and see how good as carry as this game and if I'm wrong I'll quit no you want ouch like you were saying Lord the curse of Bo just hit Anthony Simonson Paul goes right by the nine once again only this time it's on the left lane remember he was doing out on the right lane the last game it's got to get in your head at this point oh yeah right now you feel like like you've been beaten and beaten down some more Simonson's like what do I have to do he's got the rest of this game to figure it out spencey seven stands power I rock it I thought I heard yes per se why didn't you ask for a rear AK and that may have had something to do with that ringing seven and that's why yes was frustrated with himself missed it into the channel yeah and that now that will not count as a spare once the ball leaves the playing field it's dead cannot come back out and that will be an open frame for yes was fencing although it looks pretty cool it's still night out yeah it doesn't count as respond open frame a tie number six that's how little heavy 610 late take a look at this pin action hello it's a nice break so Simon said watching his confidence up and down with his carry let's see how response I'll turn back he's gotta be 15 hang on now find that look like win the second game well that's the thing Dave he's got a good look to the pocket but his carry stinks okay finally get a double four pin this time yeah that looked like the ball changed it looked like he went to the ball he's using on the right lane take a look it is and then another rip rack for pin I mean I've seen bad carry before I've had a lot of bad carry in my my life my career but I I'm not sure I can remember last time I seen carry this bad sonic said answering a PBA Tour Finals hoping with his first tournament since 2017 extra frame event in Wilmington North Carolina your current neck of the woods currently we're a California guy right grandson of Cal South Florida Orlando for a long time yes sir Carolina yes sir it's basically I'm a vagabond [Applause] yes / spencey grew up playing soccer hockey we talked about bowling the bowling center being so close to his school could literally leave school and be bowling in two minutes flat I said tremendous advantage growing up 14 15 a game of hockey is really good hockey player left wing can't see him on skates a vision that long ranging oh yeah no big slap shot just got the big wingspan absolutely strong guy still a very big hockey and soccer fan watches a lot of sweet elite league hockey at night on his iPad the time change is perfect watch those games live after he's had a busy day bowling that way through the pins with bad intentions and yes worse offensive now with the three baggers time is now for the youngster from Texas works in a spare fit Bream well we down by eight throwing game to Anthony's Simon soon gets tap all the 9-pin down to coax just what he needed it's like one of the few breaks he's got in a game and a half in between third and fourth arrow there finally gets a trip on the nine while the 910 was standing for a second crazy let's see if he can double up now take the lead with a strike here I got hey I'm sorry right now Simonson's got to kind of feel like a bald guy finding a gold comb I mean can you get any more unlucky I don't think so but how many have we seen I've been this time really good shots well just not get the breaks we lost the first game to 48 to our core but a rally in game two third place at state from Allen Park Michigan back to bowling thunderbolt lanes historic center was it so many great events over the years that's been fencing up sweetly the first game easily and an 8-pin lead in game 2-2 game match this for third place championship match Tackett Belmonte's still to come and trying to take advantage of Simonson's misfortunes some of the worst carry I've ever seen and I've been doing the telecast for the PBA Tour for 18 years Simonson's two games is some of the worst I've ever seen really he hasn't missed a pocket in a game and a half he shot 204 only because he left the tenkan second ball in the 10th and decided to throw a strike ball instead of shooting the spare this is a bad event about as bad as I've ever seen the other thing about it is the two handers their carry percentage is so high part of the reason why you throw it with two hands you increased Rev rate getting the ball to go through the pins and striking more and this is some of the worst carry I've ever seen that's quite a statement Randy you have called hundreds of matches on TV over the years for Simonson it's got nothing to do the center and it's all about how Simonson's ball is going through the pins Svensson and there's a father himself after he made that seven pin and has a strike here a full second game say yeah say yeah yeah no time for fifth last year in Orlando that one by each attack it there you go mama said there'd be days like this no matter what Simonson does can't get all tend to fall has not missed the pocket in 17 frames and believe it or not he's still in this match he's got to win this game though to take it to sudden death it's a bass frustrated you'll see Anthony Simonson get he's even keeled young man not big with the emotion a big on talent that's better shocker no solid eight you've got to be a snake bit at this point no question about it back to Svendsen nasty I came back to the pick and dresses shot yes was fencing 18 pin lead now heading to the foundation frame of game 2 so impressive in game 1 max for 4 yes for 247 back score for Anthony Simonson 229 and that's called high flush 10 pin almost and working that chamois to get the excess oil off of the cover stock as he gets set to set up the tenth frame the foundation frame for yes we're working on a double let's go up 28 in game 2 watch out squid it's 7:10 things just got real interesting what's right through the schnoz and paid for it this is got a rattle you are in control the match it's up to you and then the split all right it's off conversion coming up here and even if he converts Simonson can strike out and shut him out 7 stance open print and the leaves link the three pins of Anthony Simonson just like that question is can Anthony throw more than a double he hasn't this game yet still looking for his first double execution-wise he's been magnificent carry wise terrible would love to get one right here bats responds unique takes advantage i will come from spence in the double and now a 7 pin lead he'd like to rear AK an old-time think this over one more here in good count and we'll go to sudden death it seems like Anthony's got to throw them all right in that spot there to carry right now yes purse thinking he's gonna strike on this ball if he doesn't yes first still has a chance in the 10th that's what he needs striking senator sonnets in no.9 King not this time Wow does that kind of went through the spot where you can leave a solid 9 watch this as the ball goes through the pins actually the ball did go by the the 9-pin another pin hit the 9 pin and I'd have to go back and look at it to see if it was the 5 or not but it's 10 is 10 now good count and we go to sudden death need 7 to frame extra bowling comes her way because we're gonna be tied in this two-game match one apiece they are battling for third place nice recovery from Simon suit had to be so discouraged with that lack of carry and just no brakes at all through basically two full games he some point to his wrist he was like it's about time good sign for Simonson all of a sudden that carries back or at least it was the last couple of frames that's for ball change interesting ninth and tenth frame roll-off coming up right after Spence and finishes the 10th frame and Simonson will get choice of starting lane and position to 2901 there's the final in Game two after an easy win for Spence into the first game tournament director Kirk Vaughn career he'll explain our to frame roll off to the two bowlers choice lanes we talked about goes to Simonson here's Kirk ladies and gentlemen by PBA rule this match must be decided by a 9th and 10th frame roll off Anthony Simonson is the higher seed he will have choice of starting lane Anthony has chosen to start on the left lane he'll throw one frame Spence until both two frames and then Simonson will finish on the right lane good luck gentlemen Kirkland Kruger a longtime tournament director he's got a little bit of that Brandel Chamblee look to him so their habit scene is set to frame roll off 9th and 10th determine the third-place finisher at the PBA Tour Finals Simonson gets us started picking up where we left off now does Jesper stay with the ball change yeah what re-rack and sudden-death I believe and snacks we'll take it right now Beauty there now all change for Stenson anybody's guess what this is gonna do I wish I could be a bigger Hellas boss strike in his own to keep things all even where that look good to Dave he was able to open the pattern up just a little bit more and then slapped the seven out a good sign for yes per I don't know how much different he's playing the left lane from the right but he's going to stay with that same ball if they time this roll off been a one ball competition Simonson will have a choice keep going that way determine a winner in this third-place match strike Svendsen again feeling it now it's better yes / after some late troubles in the second game looked like he was in control to win two straight momentum back with him Simonson's been hot too more it can't be shut out work for great finish here Wow yeah it looked like you got that one in so Simonson if yes for spares is Simonson will need two strikes on the right lane six pin stands yes purse offensive seven times Titleist informer or qbu-88 or 49 for the two frames so we don't assignments and needs now step up a couple strikes he will be the third place finisher at the PGA Tour Finals to to win here for Simonson struggles with his carry first couple games to the very end of the second game couldn't get a break now he needs strikes Howell has finished with Simon Sam waiting for pin incredible yeah it wasn't a good shot it was left the whole way out of his hand and yes versed fencing is going to finish third once again at the PBA Tour Finals as he did a year ago Spence will take this one and two grand roll-off honestly Simonson made two marginal shots the entire day and his carry was really really bad supplementing the entire day Randy tough rigs were signed in to the youngster from Texas sets in Gothenburg Sweden is your third place finisher at the 2018 PBA Tour finally we're getting set for the championship match ej tackett and jason Belmonte despero's fencing takes third place at the PBA Tour Finals here in Allen Park welcome back to suburban Detroit Dave Ryan alongside Randy Petersen Mike Hall famed broadcast partner wrapping up a very exciting 2018 PBA Tour Finals and we know one thing about Jason Belmonte he loves to get revenge against someone who beat him that was the case last year ej tackett won this event in Orlando yeah I mean he just hates to lose period it doesn't matter whether it's golf or bowling but he's certainly looking for a little Redemption and this is just a remake of last year ej tackett Jason Belmonte two of the best players on the planet 1 & 2 is their ranking this is going to be an exciting matchup and I predict extremely high scores on a real gettable oil pattern let's talk more about mo the two hander from down under spectacular so far here now apart but remember he started with the front nine one game open frame but this has really been his event he's stuck on every pattern imaginal and he's gonna strike a lot on this matter tonight he knows how this patterns going to break down ej tackett well this is the first time he's going to be in that gently idle for the very first time on a PBA Tour different format last year total pinfall now it's a two-game match here for the 2018 PBA Tour Finals championship match we are ready to crown a champion from Allen Park Michigan Bell mo tacking next match EJ Tackett Jason Belmonte the wait is over Randy Pedersen time to bold ten-year pro best in the world from Orange New South Wales Australia here he is Jason pelt Monty stop you know Dave what a treat 60th anniversary of the PBA Tour and the finale is the number one and number two players in the world going at it in a two-game match former Player of the Year stepping up on the right lane current player of the year just coming off of the strike this is going to be exciting oh no pocket for ten for ten split early for EJ boy that was close really close ten stands though early open game won and EJ attempts this for ten split a little differently throwing the ball straight up the left side of the lane a lot of times you'll see right-handers go cross lane at that that's pretty good 1/10 there these two high rep players are gonna absolutely beat this old pattern to a pulp tenpin this time off the start AJ wanted at all again to game match you have to win both games if they split we will have a knife intent frame roll off 25 foot level oil patter chosen by Belmonte you'll some big numbers certainly hands for Belle mo runner up last year at ej tackett in orlando and yes when we spoke with Bill Moe this week he has not forgotten that any loss really yes something that sticks with Jason Belmonte maybe forever it's a visualization of Jason Belmonte right now as he waits for the left lane to recycle the machine just dropped a pin how about I track the tech talk around Beyond Elmo oh how about it remember we talked about what he's able to do with a bowling ball at the bottom of the swing on the left side of the screen he's going around the side of it to really open up the lane and on the right side much straighter with his hand up the back and that's the versatility of Belmonte so right now he's going around it kind of like that that still shot on the left side of your screen and a lot very reminiscent of his match with Simonson to get to this point he started in with that same ball once that ball starts to break break loose expect him to make another change actually I'm sorry he started with a phase-two and then went to this ball when the phase two was hooking too much like that start beautiful here del Monte three in a row to start if anyone can overcome the early open and a nice pair against bill Monte its ej tackett ej tackett pretty much staying with the same ball that he got here with as he's using his hydra a little bit of surface on it there it is pearlized cover stock in the hydra and it's amazing he's using a kind of a mid-range ball not nothing that's super aggressive on a very slick pattern you see this house me that ball is it doesn't drip real hard it's just kind of smooth but again keep in mind how long the old pattern is I know that the middle part of the lane is broken down a bit or excuse me the tracks broken down a little bit to give these players something to throw into but that's it's a pretty smooth down lane reaction for ej tackett finally catches a double here through four frames now Belmonte front three those guys are two and two against each other on TV [Applause] tap hit stance and that perfection for Belle mo here in the first game perfection was not delivered on that shot Belmonte turned around immediately did not like the execution there and the end result shows with the ball coming in late leaving that soft ten [Applause] the two-handed no thumb style made famous by this man cup the wrists to hold on to it bend the elbow because there is no backswing and then just the great lines the position at the foul line the balance throwing a high road nano after that tough start with the open in the opening frame looking for the turkey fifth frames and cut the lead to ten EJ Tech and not that far behind and in the power category from Jason Belmonte with his thumb in it this guy's got a lot in the tank and get on it this heart is any player on tour that uses their thumb may be the strongest ball using his thumb Wow another way statement like that Randy I can't think of another player that can rep it harder than ej tackett with all three fingers in the ball 25 years old Paul faint eligible already and he told us that was a huge accolade get that far already in this career missed everything once you fought what happened there well he got it way right it's like his ball hitting a patch of black ice on the highway just wide right bad shot we'll game-changer in the 6th and a momentum shifter as well let's cover does get its mark but if anyone can take advantage of a mistake it takes Belmont see the world's number one ranked player game on two games championship match underway from Allen Park by 13 pants works on a strike into his sixth frame to get match for two games wins it if you were tied 1-1 they would go to a to frame roll-off 9th and 10th frames in each game just striking the match that's ten peanuts dead little lazy down Lane and that's why he's leaving that late Tenten balls coming in or behind the head pin and there's too much angle being created late ten pip take Taylor left lane Randi let's see the approach of each of these bowlers it looks different doesn't it well ask and you shall receive Dave check out the location at the arrows Belmonte right over 25 which is the fifth arrow on the Left ej tackett that's about 19 so it's a good six boards difference between the two players 7:4 and Bumble works on the sparrow assball 10 down 7 pin still anyone's game here that's the two championship round the top seat in the PBA Tour Finals entering play almost 4,000 dollars earned over the last two and a half years they're dead even in TV matches two straight won by ej tackett the two seed about $382,000 earned including last year's PGA Tour Finals in Orlando or about half of your salary day annual 13 EJ looking to do something he's never done and that's to defend a title as we take a look from profile one of the things he says he has to avoid is getting the ball into the swing early because that makes his feet go too fast that shot there was perfect he has won nine career PBA Tour titles he's over seven defending a championship I vote for a long time on tour Dave I never defended once really it's tough thing to do got the hang spot again so now you got to wonder in question EJ's ball choices the ball too weak because he's got much stronger stuff in his arsenal he can go to that may come off of that same spot but that's on EJ he knows his equipment better than anyone but it was his decision and the tux court replay of the day without question off the wall and off the 10 pin well this keeps him in this game right here sliding the two over into the 10 perfectly from the left side of the lane brilliant shot by ej tackett it's gonna be really big if Phil machi doesn't strike on this ball and he hasn't struck the last two shots on the right lane they frame the deck there where the Scout did not take out the tent pit so no strike interesting in this first game yeah talk about interesting back to back to back 10 pins on the right lane guess what Lane Belmonte has to finish Game one on the right lane take your spoon now you can get 24/7 scores breaking news and up-to-the-minute highlights dreaming across devices lot cute we rack for Jason Belmonte wants to think things over as you said earlier in our broadcast knee on the ball return he's contemplating he's thinking about ball reaction and a lot of visualization that's a part of his recipe for success he's perfect on the left lane Dave nice frame [Applause] attack it for games a qualifying was the top seed group – and then the stepladder semifinals one his two game matched to advance here the championship round Belmonte same group one mo the overall top seed is the top money earner over the last two-plus years on tour tackle a response nice shot here in a much tighter line and then the last shot on the left lane a little more direct here what a great hand he has at the bottom of the swing all the games these players Bowl throughout the course of an event you think they get worn out just wiping the oil off their balls [Applause] Wow French shot raining tenpin I mean he just blasted through the one three pocket I'm wondering now if EJ marks here if he's gonna try a different ball on his fill shot I mean this is a great shot that doesn't strike and that's the first thing that tells a player to change balls you throw that good the motion looks great to you but it gets nine that's a pretty good indicator let's see if he goes to something else here he's thinking about it yep different ball coming up for a still shot much stronger of all their gumbo getting up on the right lane now the last three times up look kind of like this looks real good but you see how it pushes just another foot or two down the lane coming in behind they have been that one actually rolled out and then this last shot looked like a really good touch maybe a little softer messenger in front of the ten he needs nine four two balls and he's going to win Game one Elmo does it in Game one we went the second he wins the 2018 PBA Tour Finals championship from just outside the Troy flash Brad takes us back to last year's inaugural PGA Tour Finals and a match between the last two PBA players up in your ej tackett there's no master title in the year defeating Jason del Monte in the three game total pinfall title matt 666 to 628 the ball on the first match of 225 224 before ej took over on the second match at a 29 pin leader Randy going to the crucial final match yeah David match three was back and forth and when TJ struck in the 8th to 9th frames he walked away with a 220 212 victory and the PBA Tour Finals title since 20 68 ej tackett some very impressive results a great young star in the PBA Tour Randy well yeah that's an understatement he's again we talked about how he's only 25 years of age he's already he already has nine titles and two majors and Hall of Fame credentials and it's something that you just really don't put together 25 years of all talking 25 years of age talking about Hall of Fame but that's what you think of when you talk about ej tackett what he's thinking about right now is his first title in 2018 full-metal-jacket I love that 2:05 Belmonte was bidding for his 18th career PBA Tour title our field started with 76 combined titles at 18 majors 17 of which and nine majors belonging to Bill Moe game to great start ej tackett all right Belle mo 231st game 204 ej tackett Belle mode now going with a different ball on the right lane let's see huh split for 10 not very well take a look at this down Lane reaction wait farther left on that Lane and that ball cuts right through the heart not quite and that was all because of the ten pins he left the last game on that Lane even though he struck out in the 10th remember it was back to back to back 10 pins on the right lane for Bo Monty even though he shot 239 for time raining PBA Player of the Year what a run for Bill Moe number one ranked player in the world he is the face the game I'll turn back are you talking about ej tackett ik del mark he has his many major victories as ej does total victories nine count them attack it's got a Player of the Year award under his belt he told us this week he wants many more hungry for a long and successful career I am the oken in the first frame of the first game Elmo does the same thing in game 2 Tom's trouble pride or Thunderball aimed right next to TVA Krishna Tom Clark thank you see those folks here doing so much for this book sorry Dave thank you Tom for everything and thank you Tom Clark CEO and Commissioner of the PBA Tour Tom's trouble great friend of the PBA and we're we're lucky to have what can I have proprietors like Tom that that loved the PBA and loved having us come here sack nasty work here in Game two no question about that only a 2:05 in Game one back to the wall next up on extra frame the PBS video subscription service live coverage warrant the PWB A's major tournaments the US Women's Open from Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando Florida all the action starts on Monday so don't miss out get your subscription today by clicking on the extra frame link on the menu section of PBA calm come on she's gonna give this ball another look one more time on the right lane wait a month pitter is up yeah that's the shape he was looking for maintenance frame and it worked always a good sign stays with the other ball in the left lane now we're used to seeing the tenpin up with that leave it's the three four seven as this ball cuts right through the heart of the headpin trouble with this is you run the risk of losing count if you go for it he's going to try to slide the three over into the four seven maybe he over cut it hard to do he catches the three pin a little too thin great effort attack it sees that lead balloon out of 36 pins 46 already mismatched ej tackett looks confidence and a person struggles in Game one now you saw that motion they're holding offense instead of 10 or 15 yard penalty 10 hey what about CFL I'm almost positive 10 yards alright EJ's gonna take a rear Ahmed you son notion that holding sign got inside of target and it laid there and that's always a good thing talk about the tale of two games ej tackett up 46 after only four frames now trophy unwind here today 56:17 that was awfully close only the seven much much easier spare easy there Skippy last thing you want to see when you make a great shot like this is a pocket 710 is the messenger comes screaming across to annihilate the ten pin for Belmonte it's simple repeat on the right lane make an adjustment on the left lane and go into the break working on a double that's got to happen here open to the first and fourth as predicted by randy pedersen finding the look trying to stay in the match this is gonna be a three board move minimum of his feet maybe more he may go for with his feet to with his target left on this shot here taking no time now just the six bit here for Belmont same thing when he talked to me in his interview about how many boards he ended up moving has the six pin but faces a big deficit in Game two on the first game in Presley 239 205 they're bowling for this trophy big prize money from Alan Park Michigan now Park PD into a final championship match top two seeds at the qualifying stepladder semifinals needing us to tack it Belmonte mo on the first game pretty easily 239 205 but here's huger attack it looking good in game 245 pin lead 10 pin that time well he's still in the high to 20s Belmonte at 184 right now through six frames so he's fine this is looking more and more like we're gonna go to sudden death to frame roll-off 9th and 10th to determine the 2018 deviate to a final jtac it's also sweet there's nothing like winning people come to your house they don't ask about well how much money one they want how many trophies you want how many titles in your career then EJ's got some 50 between all of his great golfing in Indiana lots of amateur titles and of course bowling once the head of that collection here tonight late great dick whoever used to do that commercial for that hotel chain and his motto was winning never gets old tack into the pocket again up by 44 pins Ella's got some thinking to do here in the latter stages of Game two played by open frames in the first and fourth yet another top squid 4/10 again well it wasn't his best shot and then he paid for it with another pocket 410 see him fall off balance here a little short with it a little inside of target with it and I bet you anything we're gonna go to sudden death not this time it rip on that and real troubles for bromo in game 2 now them now the mindset changes to okay let me get locked in for the sudden-death 9th and 10th frame roll off down fifty eight pins almost have to forget trying to win this game really you got a look ahead and be ready for that roll off sy he's going to a different ball on the left lane moved right when me right went faster and straighter he's testing the waters right now he's going to get locked in for the sudden-death roll off he might he's gonna throw a strike ball at this all right he fooled me now we talked a lot about EGA attack and never defending a title oh four seven after winning an event he'd never been in the top ten the next time around that's that's incredible hard to believe yes to frame roll-off looking good in Game two he is losing I think right now EJ is very confident because he feels that he has a little bit of hold area he feels like he can miss in a little bit if he throws it well enough the ball is gonna lay there and face up to the pocket that's a good feeling to have Oh interesting not that the game is in any jeopardy but games ever and I'm not sure what happened on that shot where he like we're in these the two four eight coming up light unless he just moved in and tried to see if by doing that his ball would go even straighter two pence Stanton and open now the games ever he's got two or three in the ninth the best Belmont to canoe he strikes out is 190 again this is all about Belmonte trying to get locked in 9th and 10th of this game for the 9th and 10th frame roll and now he's thinking processing what's ball what lying how do I throw it what do I do here good news about the 10th friend and she gets more than one shot and also as the number one seed he gets to pick what lane he starts on which also determines what lane he'll finish on in crunch time to frame roll off that is important trying to get is look for the 2 frame roll off because EJ tech has won this second game it's clinched to frame to deter a champion in Allen Park Michigan exciting conclusion comes your way next on CBS Sports Network ladies and gentlemen by PBA rule this match must be decided by a 9th and 10th frame roll off Jason Belmont a is the higher seat and we'll get choice of starting lane Jason I'll make AJ stop the match ok Jason is elected to let EJ start the match on the left lane EJ will pull one frame on the left lane Jason will Bowl two frames starting on the right lane and then EJ will finish his roll off on the right lane good luck gentlemen here we go now turn the director quick who explains the setup so here's the ej tackett to frame roll off to the tournament champion here in our Park all comes down to this and AJ's made this a lot more interesting hasn't he the way he finished on the right lane Tackett gets us started [Applause] with a tap on number 10 and it stands for EJ all motions on the second game 2:19 170 pretty good shots around there by ej tackett and I got to be honest with you day but I think EJ's I don't know if he was playing possum there the tenth frame or not but I'm not real sure about about Jason Belmonte's ball reaction on either lane right now he didn't look so sure at the end that second game but he is the world's number one ranked player he's won 17 titles he's won nine majors the face of the game has now got the chance demo nice my oh my barely kicks tonight late the ball Kotik going by a little bit aloft look at the side rotation and there the ball catches a piece of the 9-pin watch this whoa just enough two strikes and one pin to shutout ej tackett and claim this title does he have the first rank 310 pin he is not what a shot at what a tough ring now this is a beauty he knew it immediately goes down to one knee in the six pin slingshots around the 10 spare strike will force tacit to strike twice on the right lane all right bitch shotgun the update the sound possibility I'm going to try as well this is a one ball roll off at that point this is big here do I get a rear rack in there Can I grab one now than play I'll take that rear AK big big shot strike here forces Tackett to get to if he strikes on this ball tactic to go strikes pair and we will have another roll off yes enormous shot with so much at stake for Bill Moe come through again Monty gets us right and a hit on the 10th pick and he is pumped that's still the best shots I've seen thrown in a while what are the circumstances this time the six catches the 10 it's up to Tackett now two strikes he's a winner strike spirit we have a tie and a one ball roll off Wow if he does not strike on this ball Jason Belmonte is your champion here we go DJ's got a strike does Jason ball Monty has long enough 2018 PBA Tour Finals here in our Park Michigan it's his 18th career PGA Tour title another tremendous moment for Bill Doyle EJ's last shot on that lane at the end of regulation went high he made the adjustment maybe through a little firm it goes to 810 on him how about titled number 18 for Belmonte Elmo has done it again the top ranked player of the world wins another Tour title vengeance the loss last year this event to ej tackett by knocking off Vijay at 2018 once again Balboa champion of a PBA Tour win Congress creating competitive opportunities at all levels as we build a future for the sport Jason yeah I just want to say on behalf of everyone that competed this week thank you to the fans of Detroit you guys were awesome thank you to the PBA thank you to all my I donโ€™t understand why people hate on two hands, like why canโ€™t there be different styles? Thereโ€™s different styles in all sports, itโ€™s just a method of how to bowl better in my opinion. People are always figuring out ways to do things better so I donโ€™t really see why two handed bowling would be any different.

They need to make it a rule that you can't bowl with two hands. Takes away from the class and skill from bowling and don't even want to watch.

I am fairly certain after the tournament they jerk each other off with 2 hands. Just kidding. But I'm sure they at least use a thumb for the ass.

Their bowling style seems to work for them, but I'm pretty sure that the ball was designed to be used with one hand ,and would love to see a rule that reflects, the design it was intended for. I've never seen a grown man throw a ball like a child, on a televised tournament! Just looks stupid n personal I just cant watch ! But that's just my opinion!

I get it, two handed is powerful, lots of strikes as well as one pin left rolls, but c'mon not how bowling was intended and it's boring watching knowing what's to come most of the time
