What’s up! This is Tim with Tactics, and we’re going to take a quick look at all the essential parts of a skateboard. First is the deck which is made up of plies of wood that are pressed together with glue or resin. The metal T-shaped parts are called trucks. These are going to be what allows you to turn, and they provide the axle for the wheels to go on. The wheels go on the axles, and allow you to roll. They have slots on each side for the bearing and the axle to pass through. Bearings go inside the sides of the wheels and center them on the axles. Skateboard bearings are standardized. So any skate bearing can go in any skateboard wheel. Griptape is the sandpaper-like gritty stuff on the top side of the deck. It gives you traction and stability and also makes doing tricks a lot easier. Lastly, hardware are the nuts and bolts that hold the trucks on the deck. If you’ve got any questions at all, leave them in the box below, or just give us a call and we’ll help you get the answers you need.
