WE WILL HAVE THAT STORY>>>YOUTH HOCKEY PLAYERS FROM AROUND THE AREA ARE ON THE ICE THIS WEEK AT THE BEMIDJI COMMUNITY ARENA TO HONE THEIR SKILLS AND RAISE MONEY FOR THE BCA’S SECOND SHEET OF ICE AT THE FIRST EVER NORTHERN MINNESOTA HOCKEY CAMP. THE CAMP IS LED BY FORMER BSU PLAYER AND COACH TEDDY BELISLE, WHO IS CURRENTLY A SCOUT FOR THE L.A. KINGS. HE AND OTHER BEMIDJI STATE COACHES WORK WITH MITES ALL THE WAY UP TO HIGH SCHOOLERS ON SKILLS IN DRILLS BOTH ON AND OFF THE ICE. BEMIDJI YOUTH HOCKEY HASN’T HELD A CAMP LIKE THIS SINCE THE 90S, AND TO START THE CAMP AS A FUNDRAISER FOR THE SECOND SHEET OF ICE WAS A PERFECT FIT.>>THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY, FOR BEMIDJI’S HOCKEY TO OWN FOR THEIR OWN CAMP AND FOR US COACHES, THERE’S A LOT OF TALENT IN THE COMMUNITY. I THINK IT IS A GREAT WAY TO UTILIZE THE TALENT IN THE COMMUNITY TO HELP GET THE KIDS BETTER.>>FIRST AND FOREMOST IS THEY HAVE TO HAVE FUN. THEY HAVE TO ENJOY COMING TO THE RINK EVERY DAY, AND WE LIKE TO FOCUS ON DEVELOPMENT AND GETTING A LITTLE BIT BETTER EVERY DAY THROUGHOUT THIS CAMP. WE HAVE ALREADY SEEN THAT AFTER TWO DAYS. THEY ARE GOING TO GET A LOT OUT OF IT AND GO AWAY WITH SMILES ON THEIR FACE.>>BELISLE SAYS HE’S THRILLED WITH THE CAMP’S TURNOUT FOR THIS WEEK’S CAMP.
