there he goes and they pitch out they guess right and they still can't throw him out it took Harrison to third baseman who was covering just an extra second longer to get that tag down and that's why Hamilton is saved the 1 2 pitch on the way pulled on the ground of the hole plugging it up and on either the picket is what Mavis and then the ball dies on the grass Gordon is into second base safely oh is that an exciting play it's two down 8th inning and the 3-1 pitch a ground ball sharply to short it gets by Tejada into left center Buxton to third base and he's going to try to score scope will throw to the plate late and it's win 7 9 6 lead this ball goes to right center and well hit Trey Turner after it amazing play to start the game he was playing toward the other gap it gets away heading home is Amaro to third is Lofton they have no play [Applause] shallow left field Casilla goes out and runs it down Dyson tanks never has time to plant its feet and this is where Dyson takes advantage of the situation there goes Coleman tremendous jump bird you might as well eat the ball he throws it anyhow stolen base Vince Coleman number 103 grounds at left side luckily young boys man he beats it out first major hit for Jacoby Ellsbury it's an infield hit injury Terrance gore is back and over from left field and he makes that running play and almost goes headfirst into the wall pop to super efforts by gore watch it for home you certainly did I'll tell you what that's impressive right there [Applause] you can get back in this VR goes pitch I'll throw down and they do not get in that tag coming in what appeared to be late for my bar on a good throw from the catcher Iannetta series and change it all now billy hamilton dumps one into right field and here he comes into second base you just said it chris welch billy hamilton testing allen craig early on Michael Bourn hits back in the right-center field for this long drive born on the run snags it bangs into the bullpen wall and Church pinnata advance on the spectacular running catch well they got it picked off but he keeps on going throws off line and he's safe on blue Trey Turner gets a stolen base in he's four for four well there's certain guys that they go first move on a lefty they can actually beat the real a trout showing bunt drops up on the third base side Valencia up for that not in time an infield base hit for Mike Trout and perhaps a little miscommunication there between dolmen and Valencia bounces away here comes the play Trevor may react appropriately he gave the Royals that run south side and again it shot it you know getting out there these great questions with some extent can go on Gordon in Saladino arriving at the bag Gambhir a high chopper hustling down the first base line beats it out and what a play by Bader hustling around third heads up there goes Dyson whoa to third sometimes even more impressive [Applause] that one scoops between the legs of Rawson goes back to the screen and now Billy going to try to come home and he will get there and oil for that is pure aggressiveness by the speedy Billy Hamilton Altuve reaches for it chops it to Plouffe go for the quick blow-dry safety first this time no need this one I'd say they'd beat it it was called out in the third on a very close play there we go busting down the line a pair ball into the corner Suzuki will round third and score Buxton right behind him going into third the 1 1 2 so guard lifted in the air out to shallow center Harrison bader better outstanding play in center field [Applause] [Applause] a straight deal of whole a rarity in red sock battle off the end of the bat cue shot for Shaffer gets it over there too late and that loads the bases with two gone kind of Richie Shaffer taking his own time there well hit Center Malik Smith on the run still going captain close baby Bogaerts hit the daylights out of that ball and Smith tracked it down there goes Reyes he got a good jump [Applause] thank you great jump by village face it the other way wallow run look for Hamilton the third they're going to send him home here's a transcript on the hand of the infielder that'll be an hour bottom of the second base that's why Devastator probation a base runner his camera Canada's second and sacred pitch Roberts is going Pasillas thorough records sake fire signals safe there's a long drive deep to right-center off the wall heat makes the cat's tag by genic he's going to try to come around all the way from second and he is safe at the plate knapford is short the borrower is safe here comes flexing and he will storm flying around third a high throw rip toward right-center field ncrj Scranton got a good jump and he got there what a great running catch how about the winds chip nicotine CR taken after that is a tough catch got jammed here on the ground the short Simeon will go to first close play [Applause] and at least those cooks down for the second time the inside part of the plate in Cassie Alice didn't like Davis goes to third he is such a thief Roger swipes third-base and now that go ahead run just 90 feet away this Hamilton think about tagging in the short light center field here he comes and here it comes to throw how about Billy Hamilton look where that catch was made and Hamilton tags up ground ball to short and late another one score is Marte gets a base hit that'll look anybody's team gets down the line faster to Marte to down slowly tough play for LeMay here with the bare hand [Applause] Center ball hooking away from Buxton buddy dies that makes the cash pirate Buxton with a great catch on a ball that was looking there goes Kane again and Hosmer sends it back up the middle a base hit came the thirties of the Gulf's fell down [Applause] [Applause] you

Kenny Lofton… What a treat it was to see him play back in the day. He was absolutely amazing to watch play center. Everyone talks about Griffey, Edmonds, & Bonds, but Lofton was probably one of the most underrated outfielders of those days because back then it was about the longball.

There’s one Royals highlight missing. Hosmer scoring to tie Game 5 of the 2015 World Series.

I don't know if there are any good clips of him but Tony Campana was perhaps the fastest runner I've ever seen in baseball. He could beat out just about any infield grounder.

Ichiro had 670 infield hits and you don't include him in this video?! He was not just fast, he was baseball fast. Years from now Hall of Fame members will be boasting to their grand kids that they played with Ichiro.

The royals in their 14 and 15 World Series years had maybe 2-3 guys that could hit HRs consistently. The key to their success was defense and speed. Small ball can win championships

ABSOLUTELY SPEED HELPS…..but I'd offer that having the presence of mind to KNOW when to "Push The Envelope" helps and of course Flat Out Hustle from the get go also plays a part…..Love These Videos

The best one I ever saw was Bo Jackson outrunning the throw when he was in a pickle between third and home. Third baseman throws to the catcher and Jackson turned, and ran past the catcher as the ball was still on its way to his glove. Catcher gets the ball but Jackson's already gone by and headed for home.

Catcher looks at his glove like, "WTF just happened?"
