The older I get the more I can identify with Meat and this song. I had a Norman Rockwell childhood, but this song was part of my teenage years and as I get older I realize those memories feel a lot closer than they really are.

I´m in my sixties now and still listening to Rock of sixties, seventies and eighties. The older I get the more I learn that no kind of nowadays music can even touch the fame of that times artists.
This song has allways been one of my most favored ones, but with every day I gather it becomes more and more important to me.
Think you might understand what I´m talking about. Deep impressed and greetz to all out there who loves this kind of music.

Jim Steinman, the reason why I choose to write long songs for myself,
even if that implies getting used to the idea of maybe becoming an independent artist.
So I'll leave the 4 chords for the commercial songs I aim to write as I am for a career as a songwriter.

the 90s was a great era for music videos. for all genres. it was before youtube and being able to stream music. i watched mtv and vh1, and stopped whatever i was doing when a great song with a storybook video came on.

a lot less complicated and a good time to be young, before the world was at the tips of everyones fingers and google made everyone know it alls. we learned life thru experience, and dreamed big about stories with these music videos filling parts of our dreams.

thanks meat loaf. thanks bill clinton and george bush. thanks to all the artist making good music that is still as good today as it was then.

I've loved 1980's to 1990 rock N Roll videos since MTV in 1979. video killed the radio star first video MTV played. I watched MTV many hours a day recording all the music videos I loved in the 1980's until rap came out in 1990. I didn't like nursery riming or gangster stuff! I was done with MTV & VH1 & the others after 1989. rap was born. video games was more me & my thing & still is!

I sit here in 2019 listening to this wonderful song at the age of 32 years old, and I say a little prayer giving thanks that I'm here, while it's playing. I have an amazing job, I'm married, and just found out I'm going to be a father! I've been so blessed by God's guidance to get here after not having much of a chance to start with. I literally living the lyrics of this song as a teenager… 20 years after hearing it for the first time, it still punches you right in the goodies every single time! It also always gives one the shivers! When you've lived these very things- multiple good friends having died too young from substance abuse, suicide, or car accidents; an abusive/ chaotic household growing up, and several young women who were great for a good time, and a couple older ones who taught me what love isn't, so I then learned what love really is- this song throttles you and brings memories flooding back! Now, I'm at a point of simple reflection instead of regret or bitterness. This song and the events of my life shaped the person I am now and I'm thankful for finding it and having it as I've grown into the man I am. Amen!

Thank you for the most beautiful lyrics to my music….it's helped me to remember….and it's okay if people know who I am now….:-). Debbie from Seabrook Maryland….living out West now….in Washington state….look me up old friend….I need a favor….I need help saving the clean water in the Missouri River….in order for everyone to survive…..this video explains it….not my music
    https://youtu.be/QdeHUrL1FEM
This video is my music….Jani Lane wrote the lyrics off of our conversation. We both did the album cover, it is a tattoo of the Black Snake on the arm of the devil, a volcano, the Missouri River and Sunshine for me, my Native American name…given to me by a Chief.

I don’t know what I love more about this. The fact that Steinman wrote it, that Meatloaf sang it, that it’s aviation themed, that Robert "T-1000" Patrick is in it, that it speaks to the soul, that it's about brotherhood, that it’s been re-written as The Insatiable Greed (Die Unstillbare Gier). I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before.
