I recently went out with my new pair of snow shoes and I was wearing ugg-like boots since it was mostly flat terrain and not too deep of snow.  When I got home I noticed that both the bottoms of my shoes were completely broken through.  As in, the sole right below the ball of the foot was completely split.  Did I have the snowshoes put on properly?  I have snowshoed in these shoes before and have never seen this happen…

winter boots. Most snowshoes will be able to fit most footwear in them, typical hiking boot style winter boots or others should fit. I would definitely stay away from trail running shoes and I don't think there are special snowshoeing shoes

I can tell you don't live in Utah. You'd be amazed to feel how warm it is with this much snow on the ground!

You'd be crazy not to wear a hat in cold weather.
