all right what's up everybody so we're gonna be doing a recap on my first year of snowboarding so here was when we kicked off the season after Thanksgiving I did a little trip to Bend Oregon went to Mount Bachelor so let me just show you my skills most of it was just sightseeing because yeah so here I am obviously with the camera zoomed but I was trying to learn toe turns and caught my cue ledge because I just didn't know what to do apparently I didn't strap on my helmet but I just completely just spun out so I was able to kind of leaf and then not much riding in that so then I went to Alabama for a week or two and then I got back and I went to Timberline so my home resort so just skip all the basics actually leaf down this run so doesn't really count but here I am trying to learn how to toe turn so I was like oh I'm on my toes oh no look how stiff I am I'm on my heels and I was trying to do my first little hop over this roller thing but I didn't know what I was doing see I even did a little leaf at the end and then here's just another angle I thought I was going fast I thought it was a little smooth and groovy because I was able to ride on my toes and not have to just leave everywhere so that was a big accomplishment these are just photos so I started off the season literally on the bunny slope that was the bunny slope in case you guys kind of tell so then after maybe a month I didn't really film one of my friends filmed me actually riding on a blue run I thought it was going way faster than I was but you can see here I was able to do a little drop and so I'm doing a lot of skidded turns not carving and here I thought it was blasting so hard to do like in order to run put my hands behind me kinda looks fast in this bigger but it's it's really not so this was just me learning how not to leave down the mountain in the first month so I went from bunny slopes to doing some blues and not able to leave so that was good in my first month riding I went up about once once a week so there was that and then week after that video that you guys saw I was able to hit my first jump in real so 5050 s are way easier and snowboard the skateboard and this jump took like three tries it scared the crap out of me I had adrenaline it's literally under the small category so this is when I first finally upgraded to getting a GoPro as you can see okay porque my Internet's not wanting to do good today it's like fiber optics book they're not doing that good at the white alright so here's where I was able to have some better quality of writing and then this was like my first helmet no I didn't know it was going on everyone was warning me about the t-bar again I had only been riding for two months at this point everyone secured a bush on the t-bar and I just looked up some tutorials online how they said to grab it and I mean I have a decent board control and boom put on the t-bar first attempt just chilling going up I do it was like no hands but you know obviously you guys can find this video on your own if you want to watch the whole video so here's me kind of doing a lot of skidded turns as you can see versus kind of flowing with it so it was just great was great it was great you know at least I wasn't leaving well thought I was going a lot faster at this point right here I thought it was the stabilization but I don't know I thought I was going really fast here and like I was shaking I was very stiff this is when I still kind of kept my legs locked I thought that running steep I was like screaming saying whew riding around so it was a fun experience this really pushed my limits then when I went to Schweitzer because timberlands pretty mellow and everything here was a lot steeper so I had to be pushed out of my comfort zone so when I did go back to Timberline I was able to ride a lot faster here was me trying some jumps in the park slipped out and fell on that and then I tried it again but it wasn't a sunny day and I kind of got it was horrible form horrible so I wasn't really that good with the jumping at the time so here's a test we're gonna skip that here's what I thought as a speedrun at the top magic mile ok these jumps shouldn't count so I was riding down the mountain and not slamming on the brakes the whole time but I still was transitioning from skidded turns and I did hit a few little crusty powder lines this was just top to bottom so I was able to ride down the whole mountain pretty much without falling and you know keep the board straight and not leap for anything so I thought it was pretty good I was able to hit jumps so there's a little jump ended up falling Road down the mountain so I was getting more comfortable riding the mountain this was me trying some tree runs I still haven't had much practice but I was able to ride powder kind of for the first time and it's a lot different than the groomed runs so hopefully this season that comes up for the 2019 2020 season I can do more groom not groomers but I can do more powder days the thing is powders you can't just keep skidding and turning see look what happened there there was actually an invisible drop but like looking at that is not blower powder that's that's what happens when you're in the Pacific Northwest but yeah you just can't be doing a lot of skidded turns not to mention it's always cloudy here so yeah I was able to kind of do some stuff now here's where I experienced like true powder this was like there weren't record-breaking that that beat Feb you buried as they call it so this is definitely really soft powder it was completely different than anything that's an Oregon yeah it was just nuking like crazy there's an amazing experience and I didn't really have any good deep powder days ever since then this was in mid-february so I mean look at that look screaming oh yeah this is what I first had to learn to kind of like ascend it through the powder so pretty happy about that and then I went to Arizona and Burton snowball that was a pretty bad fall you guys can check the fallout if you want but this is kind of did my first big joke and when I learned that you actually have to hit it with some speed and you can't just kind of go up to and hop so I was screaming here like I was shaking and with the adrenaline and these are the smaller jumps and it was completely different so I was riding fast through the resort and then again this was my first did my first real black diamond fast forward very top of the mountain that can load so again a lot of braking skidded turns on the Black Diamond because I was just you know it's the first time we need your first bike diamond most people don't just send it resolution on this video is a lot lower yeah so you know controlling my speed getting down it was kind of icy and then here you guys can spend I actually clocked it in this 45 to 50 I've never gone that fast before and I didn't know how to slow down I was having screen be vaporized like I should start mining Harrison if Vidya I say my legs are shaking so again I was doing bunny slopes and I couldn't even ride on my toes two to three months before this video yeah this video was three months from the time I was on the bunny slope and then I was hitting 50 so that's a huge difference right there here are some black diamonds that I was trying it was obviously pretty easy with fresh powder and then there's some other chunky part not gonna play the Hoodoo one this was when I was really trying to push myself once you go to freefall like so timberlands not steep this is so this was the first black diamond you know I was kind of able to do this is the first one to do I got about skeeball there's some old gun and skis zigzagging sorry if I offend you if you're scared exacts but like why are you doing black diamonds I'm really doubt it was that guys first time so I was doing this and then I ended up going to a yeah those the runs I did so I started doing steep behind the clip yeah so I was really scared here looking down and then you know it's getting dusk and I was just like oh yeah that's steep really hard to see at this angle but yeah this is the one we're actually sliding out so then I went back later and I conquered the same run this is the normal black diamond go so I did it again there's a little bit more fresh powder maybe like a dusting like this much so as it would have more traction where I slipped out and yeah I was not trying to just walk him straight down I was just trying to conquer it because I mean it says this was at the very beginning of March so again pretty much a little more than three months of writing at this point December February and then this is the beginning of March so I conquered this deep black diamond run I just was pretty stoked on that able to start writing a lot faster flat flat base some of my friends here's me trying to double black diamond so it looks deeper in person all these days of the GoPro huh falling cuz I don't know if I counted everything but you can see how steep this from this angle so I kind of just zigzag from second okay yeah here it is alright so I'm gonna look up there you go that's how steep it is kind of like vertigo like if you did not have your edges dug in you would have just slid down so I only had one fall it was really choppy there ski moguls cuz that was one of the last runs of the day I should have gone in the beginning but I was being stupid then I went to Idaho focus basin and Boise and here I was going a lot faster than black diamond as you can see let's go up to 1080p again all my videos are in 4k so it's kind of doing lights you'd always like stop stop monsters kind of doing it only did black diamonds at bogus Basin for filming but there's some good views there then I went to Schweitzer round two this was my first time ever writing slush though because it was hot like 57 degrees and then I did some jumps here bigger jumps but I still wasn't becoming a park kid yet at this point yeah so this was the run that I mentioned earlier the first time I went to Schweitzer and I was like I said I felt like I was going faster than before and I was like Kurt Kurt Kurt and I thought the proper choice to you same exact run this time I decided to try to try to send it versus just break break everything so as you can see big difference so this isn't me kind of just doing that and like flat face it I haven't really been practicing well yeah obviously I sent it at that point and then eventually I learned jumps yep kept falling 50/50 is probably like one of the easiest tricks really really hot yeah I kept falling alright so Bernie's luckily they had a kitty part right now I say I do practice you know falling on the first joke look for the second jump do practice that landed it my girlfriend messed up the filming I think this is the pool so yeah I felt ass I'm getting up on again I believe in myself I even kind of secrete but I was insistent and then this was when the slush started taking over and I just started learning to hop and hop and then this was when I finally migrated from the medium-sized jumps around Timberline to official elves as always just they wanna hit the medium-sized jobs what over and over again this video is pretty much just being hopping around on all the medium stuff and then eventually so that one almost like went to flat and then I'm violent it's like okay if I can go to flat unlike some of the medium jumps actually go for a baby so I hit the knuckle there everyone makes a big deal about hitting out those but he's really hurt that bad guess it's because I escaped yeah so I was happy about doing that so severe jump this was April 2nd so it took me December January February and March it took me over four months to go from doing a little hop and not being able to toe turn to be able to hit actual large jumps so that was crazy and good I did a jump regression video Linton Mellon Meadows nothing really too exciting there went to the very top of Mount Hood again just a black diamond so here's a new speed this is what I see and this was when I was really learning her to start send it it brings us so just think about how it was the period beginning in December I was like bunny saved 55 I think it clicks in 66 I think there's something weird with the GPS and just in my life charts so bunny slopes to doing all that crazy stuff Mount Bachelor nothing really good on that and then this was like my first time that I kind of felt confident for going off a run and then this was a black diamond so that was near the summit just kind of freestyling around the mountain because Mount Bachelor is 360 degrees of riding which is pretty crazy so I went back there just as like a time to conquer the first resort that I did here was me doing Palmer so this is what I was trying to wear speed record I think I stole it looks faster I don't know if there's something going on ng my hand touch land on my first front 184 backsides so that's kind of weird again here's the half pipe drop just vertical my style whatever then I taught my friend oh yeah well that was that and then this was when I finally learned grabs and he was my friend was using a 360 degree camera but yeah I got Indies and then I actually got better Indies once he left the resort which you'll be able to see from here so there's a good solid grab this is me of the medium to large jumps and so I was really able to like suck actually grab and grab me actually made jobs easier for me it kind of took away the fun at drilling because like like I showed you the other Thomas like I mean my heart was pounding it was just a pain like I would always get so scared doing jumps and I learned how to grab some ugh looks like it won't fall asleep everyone says you need to grab it it's more stylish but I think there's somebody really close to me on that I didn't notice that good so I grabbed this is actually my last legit day of writing stuff so did we get jumps so here I was on Palmer again I was going for another speed record I don't know how GoPro works with the speed record but Palmer's lost steeper and then magic mile so maybe they factor in like the vertical descent it was only seeing the distance traveled because I really feel like this looks a lot faster than the magic but here it only peaks at 55 – so I don't know why just wants to stop it that's kind of a weird glitch but I mean yeah I'm hauling it down like I'm having a freaking set down the landing gear and then like you're going so fast you can't even see the ridges and the bumps in the snow because everything's coming up so fast to you so you just gotta trust through no bumps it's kind of scary and you gotta stay in the lane little stuff from the grooming so yeah I think here's another plus 50 miles-per-hour say when the breaks few times and then here was me and magic mile again it's not as steep but this was just kind of hauling it flat base and I think this was pretty much maximum velocity terminal velocity for this one on a snowboard it's like I am going straight the whole time this is as fast as the run will let me go because now it was kind of turning useless I mean yeah you can obviously see I know how to write to illustrate versus all that crap from before I'm not gonna do closing day but this was the worst slam ever yeah I leaned out my tailbone my butt got whiplash in my hand so again this was the Lord more so boom second jump I got a lot of here on that they're done I've never even attempted to clear it perfect and then the fourth one it's like an extra-large jump and I just I didn't suck my legs up and boom goggles flew off and yeah I was just hiking around breath knocked out of me I'm limping trying to get over and get my goggle lens so that is my first season of snowboarding I went from on the bunny slope to like I mean I would catch my head I couldn't even toe turn at all I couldn't link the toe turns I'd get into the toe turn but as soon as I tried to switch back boom fall and then I was able to finally after like a few weeks linked them together not falling I thought that was crazy and dude little little hops I was able to get airborne you know which is still you know that's a big thing when you're a beginner and then I went around and sorry learning to go faster but then I started doing skidded turns going fast doing like small to medium jumps like actual jumps in the parks rails actually did boardslide but we didn't get that on film then I started learning how to do steeps black diamonds link turns better without just kidding and then big giant jumps and a few grabs and kind of a double black gun and so I think that's pretty good in just a few months and my first season of snowboarding cuz apparently other people aren't that good when they do their first season of snowboarding so this is what's possible on your first year and this is not me being like one of those people that rides like a hundred days like I literally only rode once a week I'd probably just go up on the weekend one day that's it sometimes I'd even skip a week so just riding every seven to eight days and I didn't ever stay until the resort closed I just wanted to do it to get out of my system so stay tuned and I should have some goggle reviews and then obviously more skateboarding videos are going to be coming back thanks
