What the ISU needs to do is to create a judging system that ensures that judges are not allowed to judge athletes from their home country. In gymnastics, if you qualify for a final, a judge from your country will not be chosen to judge in a final you're in. It;s pretty simple, ISU needs to get their act together. I am surprised that nothing has changed after what happened in Sochi.

NBC will get rid of Matt Lauer for chasing a few skirts, but they support the horrific slaughter of dogs by broadcasting the 2018 Pyeong Chang Winter Olympics in South Korea. How can NBC glorify South Korea during these Olympics when their culture includes eating dogs? Worse yet they are tortured, hung slowly by the neck and burned alive. Over 20,000 restaurants in South Korea serve dog meat, and that just the restaurants! Boycott the winter Olympics starting February 9th. Get off the fence! Have the nerve to watch this one video and that will do it for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta6tovRyzPQ

As long as you use human judges you'll see bias – BUT – you MUST remember it takes 9 judges to score a skater … AND a computer drops a score randomly (*this may have since changed*) … However, I will agree, the new scoring system sucks! The old system proved far more reliable and understandable (*to us skaters*) – what mattered is if a judge saw you as first, second or third place COMPARED to each remaining skater – your point total was irrelevant, it was where they placed you (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) – Skating isn't and shouldn't be math! If you received the most first places you won! So much clearer and simplier!! … and MORE importantly, you SAW the score/placement the judge/s gave – they could NOT hide. Today, you don't know which judge scored you or how, it's totally cloaked in annonimity – WHICH now makes said bias all the easier to come into play and mask – Return the 6.0 system and put judges/judging back on display!!! This new system grew only as an attempt to placate the audience, but the audience should NEVER be the judges

To the RUSSIANS responsible for CHEATING – What good is winning a title but losing dignity and respect? I think, only true people value and understand these virtues because people who are engulfed by worldly desires no longer understand such truths. Lying to themselves that they are champions but do not forget, you have no glory and honor. Empty victory. Soulless existence. 🙁 Hail to all deserving winners. Yours are the true marks of a champion – GLORY, HONOR, DIGNITY, RESPECT, and of course, TRUE LOVE and ADMIRATION by the people. 🙂

I do think they favor some competitors, even though I'm not huge fan of Mirai Nagasu, I do agree she didn't deserve the score she got at the Olympics… Still some don't even get wrong edge when is obvious they did it. I hope they work in their system and judges.

If there's this much controversy over the sport, then it should be reconsidered as a sport for the Olympics. I could see any "dance" introduced as an Olympic event under same subjective standards. Any sport that has an explicit "artistic" component as part of judgement, then it shouldn't be in the Olympics.

Russia shamelessly systematically doped their athletes for Sochi, so it should not be too surprising that they cheated Queen Yuna of her second gold! A country that sponsored cheating for their Olympic team for just sports. What won't Russia do?

I could never be a figure skating judge, just seems too hard to be completely unbiased. Like some skaters I'll like better than others based on style & emotion, & it just seems it'd be hard to try to put that completely aside.

I think the most controversial scandal in the judging system is the 2014 Winter Olympics of the women's event, that people are still debating about. With Yuna Kim was denied a second straight gold, with many people and many aficionados still do. The reason why Sotnikova won is because the Olympics were held in Russia, and the one of the judges is the wife of Figure Skating President, why was she chosen to judge the event, that proves national bias, she should not be selected to judge. If the 2014 Winter Olympics were held in PyeongChang, South Korea instead of Sochi, Kim should have repeat as Olympic Champion, and won it as host.

It kinda reminds me of the time when a US judge scored both Yuzuru Hanyu and Shoma Uno so low compared to all other judges while scoring Nathan Chen so much higher even did not execute jump perfectly. That’s a nice analogy.
