hey everybody welcome to another episode of above dog vlog my lips are frozen and we're doing dog sledding today we are in better months it's a state of being and we're riding a sled from a professional dog team yeah I'm excited I'm nervous excited all the same things I'm always all the time anxious right I mean this is this is Balto in real life how do you deal with that how do you deal with that when there's medicine for a girl and you can't take a snowmobile they ain't invented yeah it bitch damn what could what could a drunk dog sledding to right of a barn today we're at Eden ethical dog sucesses sledding in Vermont it's a mouthful Jim Blair is the man who owns the operation he's the international sprint sled dog champion you may think I made that up but it's in fact true the internet says says though Eden gets some of the highest snowfall amounts in all of Vermont and New England I'm up to my tits and snow out here I have I have very low tits we're going to harness hitch and ride with exceptional Alaskan Huskies through 140 acres of pure dog sanctuary and breathtaking Vermont wilderness I spent I say breathtaking because it's altitude the dogs are highly socialized and and friendly and are treated with the highest ethical standards which explains their name eat an ethical dog sledding get it do you guys get do you guys get it do you get it guys contributing to their desire this is what they want to do of course so I don't feel any sense of guilt at all like people have asked are you do you think the dogs really like do it and I think I know the dogs question they give and you breed your best pullers yeah so then the level of performance each litter the lines kept getting better and better whether they're just pulling machine yeah I mean they all have their own unique personality stuff very much so yes I even I saw it right away even in the puppies about four or five weeks while developing their own personalities comes right out those are three teams innovative two team on the left is the ones who will be taken to top ones are the leaders know what doesn't take the commands like West has lead question mark why does he have a question one because sometimes he'll lead sometimes you don't so he's still in training right got it because I wouldn't when there's no nobody in the sled just training yeah try him up front guys so we started to get a little better and a little better and a little better well we rotate all the dogs they're sure to give them equal training and conditioning and these are the sleds so I got one I'll set up out there no they'll be riding on its it this is just a drag Matt's got spikes in it when we're going downhill just to keep the center line that you'll see the gang line so it's just a little bit snug and to put the brakes on you just hit the center mmm if it's a sharp left turn you can hit the left brake or if it's right you hit the right brake to a fed top quality dog food some bits a catfish blend and some of its salmon and trout if it's raw chicken yeah mainly the skins for extra fat because they they can burn when we let the dogs out we only open it about this far and then we count two dogs if 12 dogs go out my putting them there 12 dogs then when we let them back in you count them again and and this goes on that side so we know that all if one's out wandering around you know if two were wandering around would put it on ten twelve one out we put that on ten so we know there's two dogs missing right and then they they go out wandering around like how many so how many is standard for when you race like how many different classes got you floor dog class six dog class eight and so to you if you were to do like a six dog class yeah who would you pick I don't think I'd have any trouble picking that six dog team they all have names you can just push him down these exes are gonna stay on the back of the dog and his head is gonna go through the first toe through the second hole like that and then we pull the collar up front that's really important the legs will come through and this stays right on the chest and then the back the back of the legs are back here to back ladies yeah the third free this dog right here Melvin the big black one he's a reason Jim wins all the races super-super lead dog which one Melvin right here this is Jim's race lead in them really yeah and he ruined the berry there you can't use big dogs to win sprint races you know some of the races at a flat cost is they're going 20 miles in 122 miles an hour Charlie so it does Melvin race lead oh yeah he's up front he's top dog he's the best so we're outside they've got all the dogs harnessed as you can see I guess this is what the sled is called the snow hook it's like a parking brake yeah the harder they pull the deeper it goes sometimes it's tough to get out one thing never putting fingers through the ring gotcha okay we're open the fingers really more than one it's really that's what they're pulling with rain and the neck line just to keep them in line like the two leaders have the neck line between them some dogs will only run on the left some dogs will only run on the right some dogs don't care at all what the team dog just run they don't lead and you know they don't do any leading they just power now is there any is there any instance where some dogs don't get along with that's why he's running by himself ah he's a face barber he's not ugly but he'll lean over and he'll bark and the other dogs face yeah I mean he faced bout Jersey and then Jersey never pulled nothing ah the rest of the tour no it stopped dead I had to I had to swat dogs around and Melvin's a wheel dog sometimes you'll put two even though he's in one of the pee it's one of the best leaders in the kennel but sometimes you'll have big powerful dogs at the back and they help turn this level that's super comfy like a wooden hammock that's not suspended from anything except you know dogs and fear that's good at the end and they can probably smell that fear in the form of urine you know how it goes I'm so so so cold just go leftover breakfast he's got some stuff in it called Blekko charge which is Gatorade for dogs everybody good yeah we sure did so yeah so I just think really big dog guys forget anyway he said see some of the athletic work yeah yeah yeah they perform well to meet up to your expert source they do so so that's been our show we got the red red red red right around in the snow do a bunch of stuff you know actually you weren't there so it's actually just me now not we she didn't actually didn't get to go because it's a pack mmmm-mmm and mentality there and I technically couldn't have done the the sledding if she if she if she was there anyway maybe that's maybe that's why I had so much fun what in what are you doing I'm gonna do this more like I smell like I smell like the urine of wolves do you smell like the ass of yourself um okay subscribe

They don't look like Huskies to me. I have a Siberian husky & he doesn't look like these dogs. They are beautiful though & have the blue eyes. Loved this video, I love Huskies.
