Day 1 highlights from Zagreb. In the
men’s short program five skaters all had points from their first event that put
them into position to make the Junior Grand Prix Final
so the pressure was on. Just four points separates first from 4th. Skating clean
and with power and class, Andrei MOZALEV of Russia earned 78.85 to take
third in the short. Andrew TORGASHEV of the United States delivered one of his best performances on the Junior Grand Prix 80.53 to own
second and also delivering the clean and dynamic program Artur DANIELIAN of Russia scored 82.11 to take the lead after the short. In the Pairs
short program Annika HOCKE and Robert KUNKEL of Germany were coming off a third place
last week on the Junior Grand Prix they skated a strong program here today
earning 60.74 to take 3rd place after the short. Iuliia ARTEMEVA and Mikhail NAZARYCHEV of Russia laid down a solid short program earning 62.44 and hold on to second position going into the free. Diana MUKHAMETZIANOVA and Ilya MIRONOV of Russia take over top spot going into the
free with a 63.70. In the Ladies, the top three were all
superb as they skated clean, delicate and classy armed with solid technical skills
Anna FROLOVA of Russia earned 67.93 to take third. Skating early in the event Haein LEE of Korea was explosive and powerful laying
down a dynamic program earning 69.29 to own second after the short. And
delivering a classy and precise performance Daria USACHEVA of Russia
earned 71.09 as she owns top spot going into the free.
