Day one highlights from Riga in the
Ladies Short Program Haein LEE of Korea skating to Nocturne performed a
beautiful and clean program earning 66.93 just two points from the silver medal position Maiia KHROMYKH of Russia bronze
medalist from week one in Courchevel skated a clean and stunning performance
earning a 68.93 grabbing the second position after the short. Also laying down a clean and wonderful short program was Daria USACHEVA of Russia earning 69.04 to take the lead going into the Free. In the
Men’s short programs skating a classy and innovative program with one small
mistake Joseph PHAN of Canada earned 74.09 to take third. A much-improved Sihyeong LEE of Korea skated clean
earning 77.30 and holds second position going into the
free. A very strong and mature performance by
Andrei MOZALEV earned 78.42 as he owns top spot
going into the Free.
