Better memes to make the world a better place, one room at a time.

My postmodernist insights tell me this is a clear allegory for the Austro Hungarian Empire.

Absolutely agree with cleaning your room, environment and self. Its like cleaning off your own front stoop before complaining about your neighbor's.

It's hard to open your eyes to the devils in your life. I love this clip! Btw Dr. Peterson, you once mentioned the possibility of making a lecture series on Aldous Huxley. I hope you follow through with that proposition. I just finished reading "The Doors of Perception" and would love to have your comments on Huxley's ideas!

I imagine the/my dragon to be ferocious and fire breathing constantly flying around burning everything in my room, and I am just allowing it to happen. I never imagined it to be a gentle sleeping dragon simply taking up space in the room, because that is not chaotic at all in my eyes.
So to me, slaying the dragon is only the first step, cleaning up the room is the second step, because if I did it the other way around I would eventually give up and let the dragon roam free again to do its damage and destroy all that I have done.

I have been organizing my room so that there are no lights distracting me when I sleep. It helps a lot.

I cleaned my room two days ago. Full on bleach and wood polish treatment, I spent more than 5 hours doing it, tossed out two huge binbags of miscellaneous shit, scrubbed every surface, killed every spider. It was the most satisfying, meaningful thing I did in literally years.

It's kind of funny cause whenever I hear Mr. Peterson talking about the 'cleaning up your room' theme, I always take it more metaphorically instead, as in by fixing the small issues first frees you up to start thinking about the more complex and difficult problems in life.

He's absolutely smack on. If it helps anyone, I did exactly as Dr. Peterson said, face them, look at them, as you would like fighting a dragon, and yeah you're going to have to hold your ground, you are going to have to say a thing or two and mean it so they know you mean business too — don't look away. And after some time, they'll actually respect you so long as you keep holding strong, not a jerk, but strong.

I've been cleaning my space over the course of the past month and a half. I do a little bit at a time, and by only committing to a little bit, I prevent the chaos from intimidating me. I think I'm about 90% of the way towards my ultimate goal.

Responsibility is a natural consequence of having power. And power isn't money. Money is another consequence of power (or a consequence of responsibility depending on how you look at it). I actually like Jordan Peterson's definition of what power is, or what it relates to. Power is competence and authority. The level at which you're competent at performing a certain task or demonstrating a certain ability defines your… And my thoughts were just blocked by narcissists in my enviornment again. Apologies, I don't as of yet have the competence to weave through their emotional projections for the purpose of continuing on with my intended action(s). I'd ask for advice on how to circumnavigate their emotional projections but I'M the expert on this as far as I'm aware. There's no where else to go but me.

My father is a fucking dragon. Definitly. I always aim to not follow his steps and sinfull behaviour. That's actually why i became a christian. Both of my parents are atheists but i saw where this mentallity can lead you and which kind of destruction comes with that. I don't say that atheism will take you there, but this kind of nihillistic atheism they live, makes it way easier to go to this destructiv place.

My father is weak. I have the responsiblity to not follow him.
