Now let’s try altogether the crossover. It’s
called the crossover. Are you ready for crossover?! Now, you got a little, so you can usually
crossover, yeah, crossover. Change the direction. You can do this, yes, yeah. You have to prepare.
Now take a look for everybody. Observe what I do by closely watching real well. Rotate
your upper body to center of the circle. The center of the circle, a little bit to the
center of the circle, center of the circle. Pay attention for the shoulder, look at me.
The outer shoulder, outside shoulder is forward. So let the arms swing. Let the arms swing.
Let the arms swing and do it as I do. Do it as I do. That can look difficult if you do it so. That’s
not so good that you can’t lose your balance and fall down. That’s not so good. In the
other direction, yeah, so it’s very good. It’s all right you can smile. That’s so easy,
yeah. It’s so fun. It makes more and more fun. So that was the crossover, a very, very
important exercise.

I haven't seen a single video yet explaining the purpose of a crossover. They all show how to do it, but I have no idea why I should do it.

Crossovers allow you to make fairly tight turns at a decent rate of speed. They allow for lots of manuverability, but be prepared to fall when trying it out.

Crossover is an unnatural technique as your torso feels its center of gravity is shifting. The key is learning to crossover by stepping side to side holding the wall. Then you begin on open ice by stretching the leg out in front of the other and bringing it back. The second most important factor is leg strength
