Hello my name is Dmitri Olympiev and I teach
at Pines Ice Arena in Pembroke, Florida. You can reach us on the web at www.Www.pinesicearena.com.
Now when you’re a good skater and you skate fast, one thing you need to learn is how to
stop on the ice. One thing to understand is when you stop on the ice, you use the whole
side of the blade and one exercise to help you to do it is this. Bend your knees, keep
your back straight, arms out and then brush the ice to the side. Brush the ice to the
side. You can do it with the other foot also, brush, brush. Now when we stop though, we
have to keep the knees together and then twist the ankle into the brush. One, Two, Three,
bend the knees, twist the ankle and the same thing with the other foot. One, Two, Three,
bend the knees, twist the ankle. We’ll be right back.

    lol funny i used to do the same but be careful you should never skate faster than you can stop.I never listened to this rule but i do advise it after seeing nasty accidents..good luck though!

    Maybe they meant advanced beginner, since it is s step up from the other beginner stop video.
    Of course an advanced skater knows how to stop.

    I tried this but I guess I was not confident enough so I almost fell… For those who got this right away, be thankfu for being able to doit with no problem, there are many other people who just struggle to do this…. no need to put down the instructor .. :)))

    @Angeltots
    I'd just stick with a hockey stop
    I'm a figure skater and I do that one.
    It's much easier

    Wait, your stopping foot is meant to be on a flat ("the whole flat of the blade")? I thought it was inside edge… 🙁

    I haven't tried this yet and I'm just learning to ice-skate but, living in Australia where we don't HAVE ice anywhere let alone everywhere (you know, besides the occasional hail storm, the tops of mountains and I think some places in Tassie), I think this will be very helpful
