hi I'm John instructor here to speak to the Varden to kill turnin and I'm going to give you a few tips today before your first ski holiday first thing you got to do is make sure you've got suitable clothing and there are specialist shops which can give you all the advice you need and you don't have to spend a fortune the second thing you want to do is make sure that you have adequate winter sports holiday insurance before you go anyway let's go and ski good posture is very important in skiing it enables us to control the skis and also to adapt to various changes in the terrain a good stance looks somewhat like this feet slightly apart knees flexed of body slightly forward hands and head forward and in this position you can control your skis and adapt to the various changes in the terrain one of the first things you'll do in your first ski lesson is straight running and as the name implies it's merely taking a run down the hill on a gentle slope and it's your first thrill in skiing because it's one of the most exhilarating things you can do as you get on to some slightly steeper slopes you're going to have to control your descent on your speed and to do this we use what we call the snow plow it's when you place your skis in the shape of a piece of pizza if you like and this enables you to either control your speed or to turn some people find it a little bit difficult at first but once you get used to it there's no problem just requires you to keep your knees flexed and we've balanced neatly on two feet and control your shape of your skis ok well now did you have an idea of what to expect on your first day skiing I wish you a happy holiday and I'm off now so goodbye
