Kevin all Red Mountain test rider for snowmobile calm in front of me is the 2019 Clair's Pro rmk 850 we have some significant changes to this model for 2019 and we're lucky to have with us Chris wolf he is the president for the snowmobile division for Polaris thanks Kevin well as you said there's been some pretty significant changes from out of your 19 I'd like to just kind of talk through what they are and really it starts at the front there's an all-new front suspension is the pro rmk react front suspension and what this suspension is all about is maintaining that geometry that makes this the most precise handling snow sled on the market and making it easier to ride so it's still predictable it's still precise and it's just that much easier to lay over into a side hill or into a powder powder turn so really significant the other thing we've done is you know over the years we continue to take weight out and we're looking for an ounce here and announce there and and as you can see you know there's not a lot of low-hanging fruit for taking weight out of this machine now so but we've got some unique technology and it starts up up front again we have new spring technology so this is actually steel springs in this sled that are lighter than titanium it's a proprietary material it's wound very loose so fewer want coil windings and takes a lot of weight out of the springs and in the rear suspension we're also looking there we replaced some steel cross shafts with aluminum we've machined the high FAQs and so just a couple of these features continue to take weight out of the machine so we talked about some weight reduction we talked about some geometry changes that maintain the pro rmk character and just make it easier to ride there's also kind of in that same spirit new running boards on the 850 s that are shaped a little bit different a little bit shorter for better side hilling and those changes themselves would have made a pretty substantial improvement to the way the program K handles but we've done something that's even more significant and that as we brought our new 850 Patriot engine into this machine and I just want to talk a little bit about that because it's kind of important and just know the whole story so we laid the foundation for this engine over four years ago and there were three things that we told the engineering engineering team that they had to do we wanted industry-leading durability industry-leading acceleration industry-leading responsiveness you know our eight hundreds that were known for being light and quick revving we didn't want to lose that so we gave the team that charge best durability best acceleration best responsiveness we did not define the architecture we didn't define the number of cylinders we didn't define displacement but we put together the best team with two stroke guys and we set him off with a clean sheet of paper and said come back with that and what they did was they tested multiple different concepts so in fact the first concepts for this engine we were already on the snow before we launched our 808 show and Molly are 15 so we were already beginning to ride it and ultimately they selected the Parana architecture which is the code name for the program so Patriot is the marketing name and then perfected over the next couple of years and we're really happy with what the engineers delivered because not only did they do the durability and the acceleration and the responsiveness that we expected from the beginning but they also produced what's the most powerful engine we've ever put in a snowmobile this is industry-leading power and so durable that we're confident and enough to give it a four year warranty so every single one of these things is going to ship with a four year warranty and so the complete package is really what's most important you know nobody rides a dyno they write a snowmobile and what they'll find with this is a smooth refined feeling machine that accelerates instantly gets up on top of the snow and it pulls extremely hard and our customers or anybody who throws a leg over one of these things is going to just be incredibly happy with it well thanks Chris on all of that technical info I'd like to input with some of my test writer input on this I'm no stranger to how the pro rmk on the axis Chan chassis handles these snowmobiles are very capable backcountry snowmobile we have heard over the years though that the players has a bit of a wider front end and I'd have to say the Polaris holds a line as good as anything I've ever been but we've heard some complaints and at times that they're little hard to initiate the role to get set up on the side Hill without question I found that the new geometry changes in this narrower front end it's just phenomenal how easy it is to bring up it initiates very easy and then it seems to hold the line just incredible and then with that being said you would think it might make a change on going down the trail I know that we're talking about backcountry handling on these snowmobiles but regardless of where you live there's it always involves a little bit of trail riding the trail manners of this new front end or is very manageable in fact I don't notice any difference to it until you go to initiate the role and I'd like to talk about the performance of this new 850 motor I know the the 800 motor very well I know its characteristics it would spool up very fast but this 850 is phenomenal it's a I'm going to call it a bit of a sneaky power it just comes on so strong and so quick the bottom end is significantly stronger than the 800 it pulls hard through the mid-range and the top-end is very good it's a very quiet smooth running motor starts good runs good I think you Polaris guys or anybody else that's looking at this snowmobile are really gonna like these changes for 2019 so I'd encourage you to read the full story in snowmobile comm look at the video this 2019 Pro rmk just has stepped it up over what it was before and it was a very good snowmobile in the backcountry before now it's even gonna take you further you

just hearing about how the company designs, tests and looks at every spot for improvement, impresses me so much and keeps me excited to see and hear about the next model every year.

Polaris tends to make sleds with ridiculous power and performance that tear themselves apart within 1 or 2 seasons.

Something I learned 30 years ago. NEVER Buy a first year model change sled! There's always a learning curve and sleds can be duds .No matter the manufacture. I'll wait till year two or three to buy a new sled.
Love the 170 hp.. love the narrow ski stance though.

Problem is that the doo 850 has 4 injectors, the body and engine was designed together. And he said the engine has more power then the doo but when they dyno'd it and it has 160 the doo 170 sooooooo ?
